WIIAD? ### Chapter 31: Wrapping Up

“The chicken-fighting team has 81 people remaining. Red Team, it’s your turn!”

After the director announced the remaining number of opponents, it was time for the Red Team to go up. Qi Lin was full of fighting spirit; he was great at chicken-fighting and had never lost a match as a kid!

But once the game started, Qi Lin realized he had been too naive. What his master had said was true: two fists can’t beat four hands. When the other side swarmed up, even if they risked fouls, Qi Lin was eliminated before he could knock down a few of them.

The red and blue teams went back and forth like this for several rounds. Finally, the other team was down to just seven people! By this time, everyone except Qi Lin was exhausted, including Big Black Bull.

“Wow! Are you even human? You’ve been playing for so long and aren’t even sweating!” Wang Xiaolan exaggeratedly shouted when she noticed Qi Lin was still full of energy.

The guests followed her gaze and indeed, Qi Lin hadn’t even broken a sweat after all this time.

Wang Shu chuckled, “You guys don’t know this, but Qi Lin has learned kung fu. His breathing and everything are different from yours!”

Hearing this, the male guests became very interested, crowding around to ask if it was true. Boys will be boys—who doesn’t like kung fu?

Seeing their eyes almost sparkling, Qi Lin scratched his head with a smile, “It’s not that magical. We just breathe a bit slower than normal people.”

Their interest only grew. They bombarded him with questions, asking if he could perform moves like the Dragon Palm or float on water, which left Qi Lin speechless.

Fortunately, Captain Deng finally remembered that they hadn’t completed their mission yet.

The chicken-fighting match resumed, and it happened to be the Red Team’s turn. The seven remaining opponents were no pushovers, taking out Yang Baobei right at the start.

Luckily, Qi Lin’s teammates pulled through, risking fouls to eliminate four more opponents. It came down to Qi Lin against three opponents!

His teammates were shouting encouragement, while the Blue Team was trying to distract him.

Amidst the chaos, Qi Lin launched his attack! Despite hopping on one leg, he was quick and agile. He jumped high and crashed down on his first opponent, taking him out with one blow!

Two opponents tried to sneak up on him, with one already kneeing his thigh. But Qi Lin spun around, using his knee to knock down the attacker. Only one opponent was left, dodging and watching carefully.

“Go, Qi Lin!”

“Take him out, and we win!”

“Get him!”

His teammates shouted encouragement. Qi Lin wasn’t one to wait around. He hopped forward again, but the opponent started a guerilla tactic, hopping away on one leg. The two chased each other, making the guests laugh uncontrollably.

Finally, the opponent, exhausted, surrendered, and the Red Team won three consecutive victories!

“Cut! Very good, very good! Tonight’s recording is over. Thank you all for your hard work,” Director Lu Ming expressed his gratitude. They had already ordered supper, and after eating, the guests were escorted back to the hotel by the staff. They had to continue recording the next night.

Back at the hotel, Captain Deng and Wang Shu came to Qi Lin’s room. Both of them liked Qi Lin and, as seasoned variety show veterans, they taught him some techniques to gain audience favor and get more screen time.

Qi Lin was genuinely grateful. In today’s world, no one is obligated to be kind to you. If they teach you something, it’s a favor!

“Qi Lin, what have you been working on lately? I know your show ‘Alluring City’ is about to be released,” Captain Deng asked.

Qi Lin didn’t hide anything. “I also filmed ‘Fong Sai Yuk’ and ‘New Liang Zhu,’ but my roles weren’t very big.”

Captain Deng laughed, “Don’t worry about the size of your roles. With Hua Jie, your leading roles won’t be few. The company is training your acting skills and proving your worth! You’ll be playing lead roles in no time.”

Wang Shu added, “Your kung fu is pretty good, too. The film industry is in need of action stars right now. You have a great opportunity.”

Captain Deng then exclaimed, making both of them look at him. “I heard Director Zheng Rui is planning an action film and has invited many big names! With your skills, Hua Jie can get you an audition! If you get in, working with those big names will be great for your resume!”

“Director Zheng Rui? The one who filmed ‘Dragon’s World’?”

“Of course, who else could invite so many big names?”

The two of them continued chatting excitedly, but Qi Lin didn’t have much impression of Director Zheng Rui. After all, he had just joined the entertainment industry a few days ago. However, he noted down the name, planning to ask Hua Jie about it the next day.

After chatting for a while, they returned to their rooms to rest.

The next day, during breakfast, Qi Lin told Hua Jie about what Captain Deng and Wang Shu had said about Director Zheng Rui’s new film.

Wang Xiaohua nodded, “I’ve heard about it too, but this film has high requirements. I’m afraid they might not be interested in us.”

She shrugged and continued, “I heard all the invitees are big names, clearly meant to draw crowds and box office sales. Newcomers like us probably don’t stand a chance.”

Qi Lin understood. Simply put, they were too small-time to be noticed. But he didn’t complain. After all, you can’t expect to become famous overnight.

The recording resumed that evening!

This time, the game was simple: name tag elimination!

Qi Lin shone in this game, like a tiger among sheep. Even the strongest in the team, Big Black Bull, couldn’t last three minutes against him.

Within half an hour, Qi Lin had eliminated everyone.

The director, seeing the game ended too quickly, reluctantly had them play again. This time, the others had learned their lesson. As soon as they saw Qi Lin, they turned and ran!

Qi Lin looked baffled, appearing very innocent.

Director Lu Ming laughed behind the camera, even thinking about how to add captions in post-production, something like, “A true predator often appears as prey.”

On the third night, they recorded two more hours of mini-games for later editing. With that, Qi Lin officially wrapped up his shoot.

He said his goodbyes to the team, full of reluctance, and took a flight back to Hengdian.

After resting at home for two days, it was the National Day holiday.

The streets were bustling with tourists. Qi Lin, along with Wang Xiaohua, Li Yue, and Zheng Jun, headed to the cinema.

Today was the release day of Qi Lin’s first movie, “Alluring City”!
