Chapter 80: Fresh and Impactful

The next day arrived in the blink of an eye.

"Brother Cha, do you think we'll run into any big stars at the recording studio? The place you picked is one of the best in the city, and many famous singers record their albums there," Fang Xi asked expectantly from the taxi.

Originally, they were supposed to start developing Double Dragon today, but since Ye Chui was taking his sister to record a song, the development was postponed. When Fang Xi heard about it, he decided to tag along.

Ye Chui, Fang Nan, Fang Xi, and Ye Ling were all in the taxi. Fang Xi, being quite large, sat in the front passenger seat while Ye Chui, Fang Nan, and Ye Ling squeezed in the back.

"Who knows?" Ye Chui chuckled at Fang Xi’s comment. "Fang Xi, are you hoping to run into Chu Qingci?"

Chu Qingci was Fang Xi’s favorite idol. If he met her in person, he’d probably be overjoyed.

"Heh heh, you never know, maybe we’ll get lucky," Fang Xi laughed.

"Yeah, right," Fang Nan teased from the side. "Even if you do see her, what do you think will happen? You think your dreams will come true?"

Fang Xi blushed, "Sis, how do you know what I dream about?"

"Pfft, I’ve heard you talking in your sleep more than once. It’s not like I wanted to know," Fang Nan laughed and scolded.

Fang Xi’s face turned even redder. He quickly turned his head away in embarrassment, which made Ye Chui, Fang Nan, and Ye Ling burst into laughter.

In no time, the taxi stopped outside the recording studio that Ye Chui had booked.

With the help of his sister and Fang Nan, Ye Chui got out of the car and into his wheelchair, and they headed into the studio.

Ye Chui had already informed the staff about their visit, so they let him in without any issues once they confirmed his identity.

The recording studio was equipped with the most advanced technology in the world and was divided into three rooms. Each room had to be booked in advance.

The rooms were designed based on professional music theory to achieve the best sound quality.

Ye Chui had originally considered hiring a band to accompany Ye Ling, but she had declined. With her Grade 8 piano skills, she was used to playing and singing by herself.

"Sir, you’ve booked Room 3 for two hours. Please follow me," a staff member led Ye Chui and the others down a corridor to one of the rooms.

From the hallway, they could see inside the room. To avoid any noise interference, no one else was allowed inside during recording.

"There’s a professional sound engineer inside. Just follow his instructions for playing and singing," Ye Chui encouraged his sister. "Fang Nan, Fang Xi, and I will be right outside. Don’t be nervous."

"Okay, I’m not nervous," Ye Ling nodded.

Girls her age often dream of becoming stars, and she didn’t want to waste this opportunity.

Fang Nan also gave Ye Ling some words of encouragement before she entered the recording room.

Ye Chui, Fang Nan, and Fang Xi stood outside, watching Ye Ling get ready with the sound engineer inside. She was seated at a piano, and the engineer started tuning.

Intermittent piano notes began to play from inside.

Although the recording room was soundproof, preventing any outside noise from entering, Ye Chui and the others could hear the music through speakers.

"This song, 'Ningxia,' is perfect for Ling. I wonder how it will sound after a professional recording," Ye Chui thought to himself.

He had recorded Ye Ling’s singing on his optical computer and listened to it several times a day, but that was nothing compared to this professional setup. He was quite excited.

While they waited, Ye Chui suddenly heard a familiar voice—

"Gao Yang, this song is amazing! Our band, Explosive, is going to make it big!"

"This song, 'Wrong, Wrong, Wrong,' will make us famous."

"Seven or eight record companies have already contacted us. Our time has come!"

Hearing these comments, Ye Chui turned to see a group of flamboyant figures walking down the hallway. It was the Explosive Band, which Ye Ling had once been part of, led by Gao Yang, Ma Tao, and Lili. There was also a new member, presumably Ye Ling’s replacement.

From their conversation, it was clear they were here to record "Wrong, Wrong, Wrong," the song Ye Chui had given Gao Yang to offset Ye Ling's contract.

Ye Chui hadn’t expected to run into them here.

The members of Explosive Band were equally surprised to see Ye Chui.

Their attention first focused not on Ye Chui but on Fang Nan standing beside him. Ma Tao, who was quite muscular, instinctively shrank back, still wary after being scolded by Fang Nan before.

Gao Yang’s expression changed, and he lowered his head slightly, while Lili looked smug and arrogant.

After a brief pause, the four continued walking toward them.

"What are you doing at this recording studio?" Lili asked, noticing Ye Ling inside through the window. "Are you recording a song? How ridiculous! Do you think just anyone can record a song and get it accepted by a record company?"

"Watch your mouth," Ye Chui said coldly.

He remembered how this woman had bossed Ye Ling around when she was in their band. He had no fondness for her.

Lili instinctively took a step back but quickly realized Ye Chui couldn’t do anything to her here. She sneered and continued, "Leaving our band was a huge mistake for Ye Ling. Ha, now Gao Yang has written a hit song, and Explosive Band is about to become famous. We’re going to be a star band. Aren’t you regretting taking your sister out of our band?"

After Gao Yang got "Wrong, Wrong, Wrong" from Ye Chui, they had performed it in nightclubs, becoming an instant hit. Countless fans flocked to see them, and their performances were always packed.

Lili and the others believed Gao Yang had written the song because of the agreement he made with Ye Chui.

Ye Chui wasn’t surprised that "Wrong, Wrong, Wrong" became popular. A hit song would be a hit in any era. But Lili’s words annoyed him.

"So, your song 'Wrong, Wrong, Wrong' became a hit," Ye Chui smiled at Gao Yang.

Gao Yang blushed and said to Lili, "Stop talking. Let’s go!"

But Lili wasn’t done. She said to Ye Chui, "Are you planning to have Ye Ling record a song and send it to a record company? If you don’t pick the right song, it’s all for nothing. Why don’t you ask Gao Yang for help? He could write a song for you."

"Shut up, enough!" Gao Yang snapped, feeling ashamed.

Lili and Ma Tao looked at Gao Yang, puzzled by his reaction.

"Gao Yang, we’re about to release a record. Why do you care about them?" Lili asked, confused.

Gao Yang’s face turned awkward, unsure how to respond.

At that moment, a gentle and captivating voice started coming from the speakers. Ye Ling had begun recording "Ningxia."

"In the quiet summer, the sky is dotted with stars. I think of you, your face in my heart..."

Accompanied by the fresh piano music, her voice flowed like a clear spring, captivating everyone’s ears.

The hallway fell silent. A staff member passing by stopped to listen.

Ye Chui, Fang Nan, and Fang Xi had heard Ye Ling sing this song before, but hearing it professionally recorded for the first time was even more impactful. Ye Ling’s clear voice added a pure and elegant touch to the song.

Some songs can instantly attract listeners, showcasing the unique charm of both the song and the singer. Ye Ling’s rendition of "Ningxia" was one of those songs. No special expertise was needed; anyone hearing it would instinctively feel, "This song can be a hit!"

The members of Explosive Band stood frozen, stunned by what they were hearing.

Even with their rock music preferences, they could feel the charm of this fresh and elegant song.

Compared to "Ningxia," their song "Wrong, Wrong, Wrong" was worlds apart!
