 ### Chapter 573: I Suggest Didi Company Lay Off Employees, Starting with You, the Supervisor

In the Didi company's branch meeting room, a row of seasoned drivers and the newbie Ye Xiu sat among them. After chatting for a while, they saw someone walk up to the podium, and everyone fell silent.

A young man, holding a microphone, said to everyone, "Hello everyone, I am the supervisor in charge of this area, my name is Zhang Wenyuan. I'm glad to meet you all. Today, we have two main matters to discuss. The first is to ask if anyone has any good suggestions for Didi or anything you want to say to us. Feel free to speak your mind."

As soon as he finished speaking, an experienced driver raised his hand and said, "I hope the company can lower the commission rates. Your cuts are too harsh. Taking thirty percent from each order is our hard-earned money."

As soon as someone spoke up, others immediately followed: "Yes, and those task rewards, can the requirements be lowered a bit? Sometimes, to earn a bit more, we end up driving for eighteen hours a day and go home at midnight every day."

Talking about midnight hit a sore spot for many people. Although they were bragging on the road earlier, those were the exceptions. Most were having a very tough time. To earn more, they would drive from six in the morning until midnight.

The platform often offered task rewards, giving a bit more money if you completed them. Sometimes, for those extra bucks, drivers had to take a few more trips and wouldn't get home until one or two in the morning. This job was really not easy.

Actually, hard work itself isn't the problem, but the platform's commission is too harsh. Taking thirty percent from each order, and after fuel costs, there's not much left to earn. If you don't get many orders in a day and can't complete the tasks, you earn even less. Plus, if you drive all day, you spend over a hundred yuan on gas. Not to mention the monthly maintenance and repair costs of the car, leaving even less profit.

So, they very much hoped the platform could lower the commission a bit.

For a moment, many people nodded and spoke in agreement.

Zhang Wenyuan stood on the stage, nodding and smiling, "Alright, I have noted down everything you said, and I will report it to the higher-ups."

Everyone's eyes brightened. Could it be that Didi Company was really having a change of heart? Were they going to give them a break today?

Unfortunately, they were too naive.

Zhang Wenyuan’s tone shifted, and he smiled, "That’s all for the first matter. Now, let's talk about the second matter. The second matter is… the company has decided to increase the commission by another five percent, and increase the task requirements by ten more orders!"

"What!? Another five percent increase in commission? Are you trying to kill us?"

One person, upon hearing this, stood up angrily, ready to rush the stage to beat Zhang Wenyuan, but was held back by his companions.

Someone said angrily, "Weren't you just asking for our suggestions? How come you turned your back on us within seconds? If you don't want to give us a break, just say so. We can deal with it!"

Yes, facing a big company like Didi, the drivers were just that humble.

"But why are you increasing the commission?"

"Right, this is daylight robbery! Are you treating us like pigs to be slaughtered?"

"If you don’t give us an explanation today, damn it, I’m quitting!"

"Yes! Quitting!"

The drivers started to revolt, looking like they were about to walk out.

But they were all adults with wives and children. If they really quit, their families would go hungry. They knew very well they were just trying to bluff Zhang Wenyuan into backing down, to not be so harsh.

But Zhang Wenyuan, being a seasoned supervisor, wasn’t afraid of their bluff. After all, there were plenty of people lining up to get into the business!

Seeing the drivers' rebellious stance, Zhang Wenyuan sneered, "Sorry everyone, this is an order from above, I'm just the messenger. Also, this is a notice, not a question. If you want to continue, stay. If you don't, leave!"

Zhang Wenyuan’s attitude was very firm.

Actually, this wasn't just the higher-ups' decision, it was also his suggestion. He found that Didi drivers were still earning too much. The company had gone public and needed more money and better financial reports to boost the stock price. This suggestion had already been approved by the Beijing branch manager, and a promotion and raise were just around the corner!

And the experienced drivers were just the ones being harvested like leeks.

After hearing this, the drivers’ eyes turned red. As the saying goes, destroying someone's livelihood is like killing their parents! Didi was too ruthless!

They wanted to rush up and beat Zhang Wenyuan, but thinking about their families, hitting Zhang Wenyuan might mean jail time and loss of income.

So they had to swallow their anger.

No choice, at their age, they were living not just for themselves, but for their families. With this responsibility, they couldn’t afford to be impulsive like in their younger days.

This was life, forcing them to carry heavy burdens.

The drivers, one by one, gritted their teeth and glared, wanting to eat Zhang Wenyuan alive, but no one dared to make a move. After all, Zhang Wenyuan was the supervisor of this area, hitting him would mean no more work.

Zhang Wenyuan looked at this group of drivers who dared to be angry but not to speak out, feeling very pleased. He enjoyed seeing them wanting to hit him but not daring to.

"Alright, does anyone have anything else to say? If not, today's meeting is over, you can leave!"

Zhang Wenyuan said with a smile, issuing the order to leave.

"I have a suggestion. I suggest Didi Company lay off employees, starting with you, the supervisor."

Just as Zhang Wenyuan turned to leave, a voice suddenly came from below the stage.
