GDYARVE ## Chapter 84: First Encounter with a Boss!
## Chapter 84: First Encounter with a Boss!
“Oh, are you a hunter? Are you an outsider?” In a dilapidated building, Tuanzi encountered a woman wearing a bird-like mask.
Initially, he thought she was another enemy hiding in the shadows, but upon approaching, he found that she could be spoken to.
It's not that they were being overly cautious; the dark corners concealed too many enemies.
In this place, not only humans but even animals had gone mad. Whether it was the festering hunting dogs or the shackled crows, they all attacked the player mindlessly. In the sewers, giant mutated rats lurked in the shadows, waiting to ambush.
The woman spoke softly, her voice gentle, “You’re caught in a terrible situation, and tonight is like every other night, a welcome for new hunters.”
This crow hunter, wearing a black feathered cloak, was named Eileen. She sounded like an intellectual older sister and wore a distinctive bird beak mask.
She explained that no humans had survived; they had all turned into flesh-eating monsters.
At that moment, we couldn’t help but recall the werewolf burning on the bonfire. Do hunters fear a few beasts? Indeed, without fear, what difference is there between us and those monsters?
Eileen encouraged us not to be afraid, to hunt boldly, for a hunter's nature is to hunt.
She warned us not to succumb to the thrill of the hunt, or even hunters could become prey.
In Bloodborne, we were as expendable as grass, as weak as the game’s common enemies. As the ‘main character,’ we had no ‘protagonist’s halo.’
The crazed Yharnamites could chop off most of our health with their crude weapons, and elite enemies left us no chance to fight back.
If you were unfortunate enough to attract more than two enemies, you might not even see what weapon they were wielding before being hacked to death.
At night, Yharnam’s citizens locked their doors, angrily berating players knocking for being ‘despicable outsiders!’
What started as Yharnamites rejecting outsiders became a vivid depiction by players.
Throughout the game, players used various underhanded methods to defeat enemies: blocking doorways, blocking stairs, throwing poison knives, Molotov cocktails, and firebombs.
Different streamers took different paths in their gameplay.
Yinzi had reached a bridge where he spotted two werewolves pacing back and forth in the distance.
Turning a corner and locking eyes with them almost made his soul leave his body.
The fear the werewolf instilled at the game’s start still lingered. Now seeing two at once shattered his spirit.
He swallowed hard, “We’re not going to fight… just run past them.”
The path behind the bridge seemed necessary to traverse. After dealing with the axe-wielding man, he realized some monsters in this game could be bypassed.
He planned to sprint past.
The werewolf was his first taste of despair in the game. At the beginning, attacking the beast felt like scratching an itch.
Back then, he thought it was impossible to kill this enemy.
“Everyone knows, in the developer’s games, there’s no shame in running to stay safe.” He lured the werewolves, creating a gap to sprint through, justifying his escape.
‘If you’re bad, practice more. You think you can run in the developer’s games?!’
‘What will you do later if you run now?!’
‘The werewolves are too oppressive; I still remember not being able to take down their health.’
…
The impression of the werewolves was deeply ingrained.
He wanted to run, but the bridge was too wide, with no cover ahead. He spotted a small house to the left and quickly ducked inside.
“What a close call!” Yinzi sighed in relief, ready to relax, but then quickly moved aside.
Despite his caution, he was still a step slow. A Yharnamite with a weapon slowly approached him from the darkness.
“I knew it, there’s always an ambushing enemy in these dark corners!” He swiftly dealt with the common enemy.
After clearing the enemies in the dark house, he looked worriedly at the door, knowing two werewolves were still outside.
But as he looked at the door, he was stunned.
The two large werewolves were clawing at the door, unable to fit through the entrance meant for a normal person.
Yinzi cautiously approached with his Saw Cleaver, and once sure the werewolves couldn’t get in, he became excited.
He swung his Saw Cleaver wildly, blood splattering everywhere.
The werewolves, now his mental demons, were killed as he exploited the door.
‘6666, what a move!’
‘You can kill them by blocking the door!’
‘Despicable outsider!’
‘Other streamers are struggling, and you’re door-blocking werewolves?’
‘Honestly, these werewolves are more demoralizing than previous elite enemies.’
…
The remaining monsters beyond the two werewolves on the bridge were much easier to clear, perhaps due to the satisfaction of exploiting the door.
Approaching the grand church through the stone gate, one could see the many towering spires and a massive bell.
As he ran towards the church, a giant creature suddenly descended from the low wall ahead.
Staring at the monstrous creature, four or five times the protagonist’s size, Yinzi was stunned.
This thing looked a hundred times more terrifying than the werewolves.
“So this is the boss!”
