GDYARVE # Chapter 68: Hmm, This Night Became Quiet Again

 # Chapter 68: Hmm, This Night Became Quiet Again

As an executive at Xbox, Alvin naturally got to play the game before the players did.

That night, he watched the game's trailer over and over again, repeatedly.

Since he started making games, the impression Ye Feng left on him was always of meticulously crafted, well-polished small games.

Most of his games adopted a pixelated style. Even though "Hollow Knight" had impressive artwork, it was still a 2D hand-drawn game.

The world of Hallownest is vast. Under the 2D visuals, "Hollow Knight" was given a unique sense of refinement. This refinement wasn't the stunning effect of 3D modeling but a form of expression that resonated deeply with one's emotions.

Although he had seen the game images released by Shen Keke, he didn't have high expectations for the internal modeling of the game.

However, upon entering the game, he realized he was terribly wrong.

He could question anyone, but the one person he shouldn't doubt was the designer who poured his heart into creating games and bringing joy to players.

As long as Ye Feng made a game, he would do his utmost to perfect it.

Despite not sleeping all night, Alvin felt an unprecedented clarity in his mind.

As the darkness of night faded completely, he immediately sent the promotional video to the relevant department in the company and issued the latest orders.

At 9 AM, a teaser was posted on the official Xbox website.

At noon, a high-resolution trailer for "Bloodborne" would be presented to all players. Continuous updates and subsequent game trailers would follow before the game's release.

As the teaser was posted, a massive promotional campaign ensued. Players worldwide received the promotional information almost simultaneously.

Displaying the highest resolution trailer on the Xbox homepage was a privilege typically reserved for flagship titles.

Domestically, they spent a fortune to buy trending spots, just to inform players about the trailer release.

‘Damn, Bloodborne! The old thief actually made it!’

‘I thought it would be delayed since there was no news after the mid-year announcement!’

‘They must have spent a lot on this promotional budget… Damn, my friends abroad said they were bombarded with Bloodborne news.’

‘Wow, is this the old thief’s influence?’

Even Xbox's own game development team had never received such treatment.

A standalone trailer teaser, unique and unprecedented!

This was the old thief’s exclusive promotion!

“Alvin! Who authorized you to use the highest privileges!” Competitors within the company who eyed Alvin’s position began to complain.

Alvin sat in his office chair, looking at his computer screen. This was an impromptu video meeting.

He calmly watched the video feed, tapping his fingers lightly on the desk.

“You’re going to ruin the company with this move!”

“You can’t just do whatever you want because you’re in office!”

Alvin glanced at them, slid his finger on the laptop’s control panel, and turned up the volume—

Instantly, it was quiet.

He ignored their red-faced arguments and waited until they were catching their breath before turning the volume back up.

“Hmm, is this meeting just for this?” he asked lightly, his tone flat.

“Are we not discussing your recklessness?” someone shouted angrily.

“You mentioned it yourself, I used the highest privileges.” Alvin sat up straight, seriously looking at his colleagues in the video.

“Using the highest privileges means I’m willing to bear the consequences alone. If this causes significant damage to the company, I will resign.”

“So, is there anything else to say? If not, I’m logging off. The trailer is about to release.”

“You! You will pay for this!”

Without listening to more shouting, Alvin closed his laptop. He sipped his coffee, savoring the bitterness and sweetness, and couldn’t help but smile.

Working with that person was like this. Initially bitter, but once accustomed, only endless sweetness remained.

“Ding!”

His phone beeped. It was a message from headquarters, asking him to return immediately to explain his intentions, performance, issues, and plans.

Most importantly, to address the current problem.

He knew this was coming but didn’t expect it so soon.

“Book me a flight back this afternoon,” he messaged his secretary.

At noon, the game trailer was released on time.

Players promptly opened the Xbox website. The massive video occupied the entire webpage, signaling a top-tier visual feast.

The first image was a blood-stained container, with blood dripping into the murky liquid inside.

Blood transfusions must be free of contamination, yet the dirty container continually filled with blood, causing visual and physical discomfort.

Under the moonlight, a deep bell tolled, revealing a Gothic dark style clock tower, cathedral, and other landmarks.

The buildings were black and gray, the city devoid of light, with only dim lanterns hanging from the street walls.

Narrow alleys had arm-thick chains for binding, blood-stained baby carriages, and the ground littered with severed limbs and blood...

In the dark, citizens holding torches trudged stubbornly in one direction, dressed in gray with white shirts, black coats, and trousers.

Just when people thought it was a unique bonfire gathering, a skinned dog dripping blood walked out, its face showing only red, intact eyes.

Without skin, its muscles and bones were clearly visible.

It walked among the people, unnoticed as an anomaly.

This nocturnal procession was destined to be special, appearing ancient and dark, filled with prejudice and secrets.

Bloodstains were everywhere in the scene.

A man in a black coat wielding a cleaver struck the grotesque dog, spraying endless blood and shredded muscle across the screen.

At the end of the trailer, as a shotgun aimed at an enemy’s head, the foe’s appearance became clear.

Yellow eyes trembled continuously, the head covered in gray-black fur, more beast-like than human.

Beasts, bloody hunts, hunters, oppression, and chilling terror…

Such emotions surged wildly,

The ground was littered with countless corpses, walls splattered with high-pressure blood stains, and the hunter with the cleaver regained his composure.

Hmm, this night became quiet again.
