**Chapter 1: Whose Lunchbox**
"With you being such an effeminate mess! Do you think I actually wanted you to act? If your company hadn’t begged me shamelessly, do you think I’d even look at you?”
“What a joke! Your acting is crap, get out! Get out of here!”
Inside the crew of "Qingcheng," Director Xu Zheng, known in the industry as 'Xu the Cannon,' was yelling angrily. His bald head was turning red with rage.
In front of him, four or five staff members were blocking a young man. The young man, about 1.75 meters tall, was dressed in a black suit and was also not backing down, shouting back at the director.
"You think I wanted to act in your crappy movie, you bald idiot? Shooting seven or eight hours a day, treating people like animals! Do you really think you're that great? Believe it or not, I’ll have my fans curse you to death when I get back!"
Beside the young man stood a middle-aged woman, her face filled with anxiety as she tried to calm him down.
"Xiaoyi, Xiaoyi, please say less, be polite to Director Xu."
Xu Zheng sneered, "No! I am just a bald idiot. Hua Jie, I've given you face, but now your man is not giving me any! I was against forcing people into the movie from the beginning. If he had good acting skills, I wouldn’t say anything! But you brought me someone who’s just a nobody?”
Xu Zheng had initially controlled his anger, but the more he spoke, the angrier he became, eventually turning into a full-blown roar.
The young man called Xiaoyi was somewhat frightened. Xu Zheng took a deep breath and pointed to the door.
"Get out! Get out before I decide to make this permanent!"
Manager Hua Jie’s face turned awkward and embarrassed. Xiaoyi, however, sneered.
"Get out? Fine, I’ll go now. I’d like to see how you explain this to my boss! I want to see who can stand your hillbilly directing!"
After speaking, Xiaoyi shook off the staff holding him and turned to leave.
"Wait!"
Xu Zheng called out from behind.
Xiaoyi, now looking smug, turned back with a sneer.
"What? Regretting it now? Too late! I’ll have my fans curse you to death when I get back!"
Xu Zheng sneered back, "Regret? You wish! Take off that suit, it belongs to the crew!"
Xiaoyi’s face turned black as coal. He took off the suit and threw it on the ground.
"You think I like wearing these rags?"
"Xu Zheng! You wait! Just wait! If I don’t ruin you, my name isn’t Huang Yi!"
"Our Dongfang Media invested thirty million in this movie, and you’re kicking me out during shooting? Fine! Let’s see how you explain this to Dongfang Media!"
Huang Yi was now almost incoherent. Xu Zheng coldly responded, "Explain to you? I should be demanding an explanation from you!"
Hua Jie was in a real dilemma, torn between her longtime friend and her most popular artist. She didn’t know whether to first calm her artist or explain to her friend.
Everyone else in the crew was silent, not daring to speak. They didn’t like Huang Yi either; he was bossy and even disrespectful to the director. But they had no choice since he was one of the most popular idols at the moment. The movie's early promotions had gone so well largely because of his fanbase. Originally, his character didn’t exist in the script; it was added just to leverage his popularity.
This situation was advantageous for Huang Yi too—a win-win deal. Now, with the director arguing with him, the staff felt a bit of secret delight but didn’t dare show it.
The assistant director was genuinely worried. Kicking someone out was easy, but finding a replacement wasn’t. Any comparable actor would require booking at least a year in advance. Unknown actors wouldn’t help, and even if the director wanted to promote a newcomer, would the investors agree after putting in so much money?
The atmosphere became tense. Both Xu Zheng and Huang Yi were waiting for the other to back down. Suddenly, a somewhat out-of-place voice interrupted.
"Um, hello, I’m here to deliver lunchboxes. The security guard at the gate told me to find the production assistant to sign for them. Who is the production assistant?"
Everyone turned to the door, stunned. A young man stood there, about 1.8 meters tall, with a well-built physique, wearing a tight black T-shirt that highlighted his chest and abs. He also wore a baseball cap, obscuring his hair.
But his face alone was enough to catch anyone's attention—handsome beyond words.
Seeing everyone staring, the young man seemed a bit puzzled but then spoke again as if realizing something.
"Oh, oh, oh, you probably don’t know me. Our crew ordered lunch from Xingfu Fast Food."
"I’m Qi Lin, son of Qi Weiguo, the owner. My dad had some drinks and couldn’t drive, so I came to deliver the lunchboxes."
The room remained silent. Qi Lin sensed something was wrong, swallowed nervously, and gave an awkward laugh.
"Hehe, so, who is the production assistant? Please sign for the lunchboxes; I still have another delivery."
A crisp slap sound broke the silence, and everyone instinctively looked towards the source. Director Xu Zheng, looking excited, had just slapped his own thigh.
“Hahaha, isn’t this just perfect! Young man, your name is Qi Lin, right?”
The director got up and walked towards Qi Lin, ignoring the now pale-faced Huang Yi and Hua Jie.
Qi Lin, a bit bewildered, smiled at the bald man who seemed to be a leader.
“Yes, I’m Qi Lin. Are you the production assistant? Could you sign for the lunchboxes? I have another delivery to make.”
Xu Zheng frowned slightly and called out, "Production assistant! Sign for the lunchboxes and notify everyone to get ready for lunch!"
"Yes, director!"
As soon as Xu Zheng finished speaking, a middle-aged man quickly came out of the corner, jogged over to Qi Lin, and called over two other staff members to help carry the lunchboxes while he signed Qi Lin's notebook.
Xu Zheng noticed the heavy boxes and how Qi Lin had been carrying them with one hand.
After the signature, Qi Lin put away his notebook and was about to leave when Xu Zheng hurriedly stopped him.
"Young man, would you be interested in acting in a movie?"
