SED Chapter 18: The Surprised Editor-in-Chief
There were a total of eight fairy tales, each one beautifully illustrated and captivating. They were all classics!
Gao Zhuo was almost amazed. Such fairy tales made him want another stack of them!
"Chief Editor, what do you think of these fairy tales? Can we publish them?" Wang Xiaotong asked softly, seeing Gao Zhuo keeping his head down after reading the fairy tales.
"Huh?" Gao Zhuo snapped out of his reverie, excitedly saying, "Xiaotong, these fairy tales are simply amazing! Especially those cartoons, they look like they were specifically created for the fairy tales!"
That's more like it. How could Uncle Gao not be satisfied?
Wang Xiaotong muttered to herself inwardly, her face breaking into a brilliant smile as she said, "Chief Editor, these cartoons were drawn by the fairy tale author."
"What?" Gao Zhuo's mouth dropped open in surprise, at a loss for words.
Gao Zhuo had seen illustrated fairy tale books before, and their publishing house had even published many of them.
However, the ones he had seen usually focused more on text, with cartoons occupying only a small part. Some even only had a few cartoons on the cover.
Fairy tales like the ones today, with almost every longer paragraph accompanied by a cartoon, were something Gao Zhuo had never seen before.
Moreover, knowing about art himself, Gao Zhuo had reason to believe that the artist had some drawing skills and wasn't just trying to match the fairy tale storyline to get by.
A master of fairy tales who was also an artist.
Was that possible?
Gao Zhuo couldn't believe it.
Seeing Gao Zhuo's jaw-drop expression, Wang Xiaotong couldn't help but laugh inwardly because when she saw these fairy tales, her reaction was almost the same as Gao Zhuo's.
"Phew!"
After a while, Gao Zhuo finally calmed down and looked at Wang Xiaotong, saying, "Xiaotong, do you have this teacher's contact information?"
Well, now he's calling him a teacher directly!
"Yes, but Chief Editor, what do you want to do?" Wang Xiaotong asked in confusion.
"I want to talk to him myself!" Gao Zhuo said solemnly.
"Do we really need to do that?" Wang Xiaotong was a bit conflicted. "Chief Editor, to be honest with you, this fairy tale author is a good friend of my boyfriend. If I talk to him, it might be easier to persuade him."
"Haha, Xiaotong finally has a boyfriend!" Gao Zhuo laughed, "This time, Mr. Wang can rest assured. He always said our Xiaotong was like someone nobody wanted, but now..."
"Oh, Uncle Gao, let's focus on business. Why bring up my dad?" Wang Xiaotong blushed, pouting, "If you keep teasing me like this, I won't handle this matter anymore!"
"Haha, okay, okay, I won't mention it anymore!"
Gao Zhuo quickly stopped, knowing that this girl could do anything. "Xiaotong, even close relatives keep accounts clear. Some things are best discussed upfront to avoid problems later."
"Okay, I'll call him now and arrange a meeting." Wang Xiaotong was a smart woman and decided not to dwell on this issue. She took out her phone and made a call.
...
After a day and night of work, Liu Zixia finally organized the fairy tales in his mind.
After selecting a few to send to Song Qingshan, Liu Zixia washed up and took little Yueyue to the Sunflower Kindergarten.
Sunflower Kindergarten was one of the best kindergartens in Jinghua, with excellent facilities and teachers who treated the children like their own.
Little Yueyue had attended Sunflower Kindergarten before, but due to Li Meng's filming commitments, she had to leave. Now, even though it wasn't time for her to resume, Little Yueyue was starting to miss her kindergarten friends.
Liu Zixia didn't want to send the little one to kindergarten, but he couldn't keep her by his side forever, could he?
So, Liu Zixia still took Yueyue to Sunflower Kindergarten.
After dropping the little one off at the kindergarten and getting to know the principal and the homeroom teacher, it was almost ten o'clock.
Not far from the kindergarten, his phone rang.
Glancing at the screen, Liu Zixia chuckled softly, "Sister-in-law, what brings you to call me?"
"Brother Three, I really have to thank you this time!" Wang Xiaotong expressed her sincere gratitude.
"Sister-in-law, you're too polite. You're my sister-in-law. If I don't help you, who will?" Liu Zixia shook his head, "By the way, from what you said, did the editor-in-chief agree to the publication?"
"Not yet, but we're almost there." Wang Xiaotong replied, "Brother Three, I'm calling you at the request of our editor-in-chief. He wants to talk to you in person."
"Oh, I see!" Liu Zixia said, "When do we talk? Should I come now?"
Wang Xiaotong was surprised, "Are you coming directly to the publishing house?"
"How about this, let's meet at a café near the Central Academy of Drama?" Wang Xiaotong suggested a location.
"Okay!" Liu Zixia agreed and hung up the phone.
...
With both parties agreeing on the time, Liu Zixia headed to the agreed meeting place.
As soon as he entered the café, Wang Xiaotong saw Liu Zixia and waved to him.
Liu Zixia nodded politely and walked over to where Wang Xiaotong was sitting, his eyes drifting to the middle-aged man sitting not far from her.
"Liu Teacher, hello, I'm Gao Zhuo, the editor-in-chief of Yihua Publishing House's Children's Department." Since he was asking for a favor, Gao Zhuo stood up first and extended his hand to Liu Zixia.
"Mr. Gao, you're too kind, I can't accept being called 'Teacher.'"
