 ### Chapter 96: Did This Guy Get Something Wrong?

Seeing Ye Chui react so fiercely, Fang Nan felt a bit speechless. Ye Chui's sis-con nature had clearly kicked in. She quickly grabbed Ye Chui's arm, laughing as she said, "Don't get so worked up. I just said that Zhou Ming seems to have a crush on your sister. I didn't say he would do anything inappropriate. The whole 'lecherous' thing is just in your head."

Hearing Fang Nan's reassurance, Ye Chui felt a bit calmer. "You're right. If Zhou Ming ever dared to do anything to Ling, I wouldn't let him get away with it. Hmph, that guy is not good enough for Ling anyway. I bet she wouldn't even give him the time of day!"

"Actually," Fang Nan said awkwardly, "I think Ling might have a bit of a crush on Zhou Ming too."

"..."

Ye Chui paused for a moment before losing it again.

"Seduction! That guy must be seducing her! How dare he seduce Ling? No way, I need to go teach him a lesson!"

Fang Nan was exasperated. Normally, Ye Chui was quite composed, but when it came to his sister, he completely lost control. His sis-con nature was off the charts.

Fang Nan continued to hold onto Ye Chui, instructing the driver to start the car, while persuading Ye Chui, "Your sister is an adult. She can make her own decisions about love. Why are you worrying so much?"

"What if she gets deceived?" Ye Chui fretted. "That Zhou Ming guy doesn’t seem trustworthy..."

"But didn't you sell him nine hundred and ninety-nine roses for a dollar?" Fang Nan rolled her eyes. "You did him a huge favor with that song. He should be grateful to you and would never hurt Ling. In fact, I bet he'll treat her better than anyone else."

Hearing Fang Nan's explanation, Ye Chui thought it over and realized she was right. He then snorted, resolving in his mind that if Zhou Ming ever wronged Ling, he'd definitely make him pay!

Seeing Ye Chui finally calm down a bit, Fang Nan wiped the sweat from her forehead, thinking how terrifying a sis-con could be...

The Tianyang Biological Research Institute was located in the outskirts of Yanjing. It was a sprawling facility covering over ten thousand square meters. When Ye Chui and Fang Nan arrived, Zuo Xiaoyou was already waiting outside the institute.

She seemed to have just come from the office, dressed in a company uniform—a standard office outfit complete with black-framed glasses, giving her a refreshing look.

Getting out of the car and suddenly seeing Zuo Xiaoyou, Ye Chui couldn't help but be momentarily stunned. Fang Nan exuded a goddess-like aura that naturally attracted attention, but Zuo Xiaoyou had a different kind of appeal, one that was cold and elegant.

Fang Nan, however, showed a slight hint of displeasure. Despite frequent communications recently, seeing such a beautiful woman in person still triggered a subconscious sense of rivalry.

Zuo Xiaoyou saw Ye Chui and Fang Nan and greeted them with a smile.

"Have you been waiting long?" Ye Chui asked with a smile.

"I just got here," Zuo Xiaoyou replied, pointing to the gate ahead and saying, "Let's go in. Luo Yongchen is waiting for us."

Luo Yongchen was apparently the classmate Zuo Xiaoyou had mentioned. As they walked towards the institute, Zuo Xiaoyou briefly introduced Luo Yongchen's background. In short, he was a researcher with extensive experience in biological studies, having been recruited by Tianyang Biological Research Institute straight out of a top domestic university to lead a drug development project.

"I ran into Luo Yongchen at a classmate's birthday party recently," Zuo Xiaoyou said, concluding her explanation. "I heard he was working here and thought about your leg issue. So, I asked for his contact information and arranged this checkup."

From Zuo Xiaoyou's tone, it was clear she didn't think highly of Luo Yongchen, addressing him by his full name. But she still went out of her way to help Ye Chui, which touched him deeply. "Thank you. I've been worrying about treatment for my legs. Smaller labs aren't reliable, and bigger ones are hard to get into. Since you have this connection, it's perfect."

"It's nothing. We're partners, after all," Zuo Xiaoyou replied. "By the way, the website is nearly complete and undergoing final adjustments. It should be ready to launch in a couple of weeks."

"Great," Ye Chui nodded. "I'll put together some strategies for Street Fighter and some developer anecdotes. I'm sure users will love it when we post it on the site."

"I was planning on that too," Zuo Xiaoyou smiled. "Street Fighter is a great game. I really enjoy it."

Fang Nan chimed in, "You really like it? We should have a match sometime."

"A match?" Zuo Xiaoyou was puzzled. Street Fighter 1 didn’t have a two-player versus mode, and simply comparing completion times wasn’t very fun. So, she wasn’t sure what Fang Nan meant by a match.

Fang Nan explained, "I recently made some modifications to Street Fighter, adding a two-player versus mode."

"Oh, I see," Zuo Xiaoyou understood and smiled. "That sounds fun. I’d love to play with you sometime."

Although both girls were smiling, Ye Chui couldn't shake the feeling that there was some underlying tension.

The research institute was vast and beautifully landscaped, with trees everywhere and lush greenery. Fang Nan pushed Ye Chui as they followed Zuo Xiaoyou along a stone path, creating the sensation of strolling through a forest. Taking a deep breath, Ye Chui felt a refreshing calm.

However, his good mood evaporated when he saw Luo Yongchen.

"You're the one who needs a leg checkup?" Luo Yongchen, who looked quite handsome in his white coat, looked down at Ye Chui in the wheelchair, his gaze playful. "I'm doing this as a favor for Xiaoyou. Our muscle DS value detector is available right now. I can authorize a free DS scan for you. You’re lucky. Normally, this kind of checkup would cost thousands."

Saying this, Luo Yongchen glanced at Zuo Xiaoyou, his eyes briefly flashing with greed, then looked at Fang Nan, showing even more blatant admiration and desire.

Ye Chui hated the way Luo Yongchen looked at Zuo Xiaoyou and Fang Nan. But what shocked him more were Luo Yongchen's words—did this guy think Ye Chui couldn't afford the checkup and was freeloading?

Zuo Xiaoyou frowned. When she initially asked Luo Yongchen for help with Ye Chui's leg checkup, Luo Yongchen readily agreed. But she hadn't gone into details, not being one for lengthy explanations. Given that the company they worked with was just starting up, Luo Yongchen likely assumed Ye Chui couldn’t afford the treatment and was extending a huge favor.

"You guys come in," Luo Yongchen said, oblivious to the looks on their faces. He took out a key card and opened the door to the instrument room. As he stepped inside, he warned, "The equipment here is very expensive. If you break anything, you’ll be ruined financially. I'm taking a risk letting you in, but we're old classmates, so I made an exception."

He then coughed and turned to Zuo Xiaoyou. "Hey, Xiaoyou, since I’m doing you such a big favor, you owe me dinner tonight."

Luo Yongchen was helping out in hopes of getting closer to Zuo Xiaoyou, clearly expecting her to agree to a date in return.

"Sorry," Zuo Xiaoyou replied without hesitation, "I don't have time for dinner."

"What?" Luo Yongchen's face fell.

Zuo Xiaoyou ignored him and turned to Ye Chui, apologetic. "It seems I didn't explain things clearly to him earlier. I didn’t expect this situation."
