Chapter 92: Starting the Intensive Treatment for the Legs

In the Shao family, which was of the same generation as Cao Kang, there were five members, all of whom had a "Bo" in their names, as was customary in the Shao family. The initials for Shao Bo form "SB." The eldest sister was named Shao Yibo, nicknamed Shao Dabo, and was often called Dabo Jie (Big Bo Sister). The second was Shao Erbo, the third Shao Sanbo, the fourth Shao Sibo, and the youngest was Shao Wubo, also known as Shao Xiaobo. Among their rich and playful circle, everyone usually called him by his nickname, Shao Xiaobo.

The call connected quickly.

“Cao Kang, what’s up? Contacting me so late, got something fun?” a slightly lecherous voice came through the communicator.

“Hehe, of course, it’s good news.” Cao Kang chuckled. “I heard your SB recently started a game development department, but the first game got crushed by Professor Cha?”

“Damn it, don’t bring that up.” Shao Xiaobo sounded irritated. “That team is useless. We invested over 300,000 yuan, and the sales are only about 4,000 so far. My second brother is really stressed out. Why do you bring this up?”

“Just curious if your game development department has any good projects recently?” Cao Kang continued to ask.

“Projects?”

Shao Xiaobo thought for a moment. Despite being a rich and idle heir, Shao Xiaobo surprisingly knew something. He replied, “Well, if you asked me about something else, I might not know, but I heard my second brother mention it a few days ago. They seem to be working on a flash project, a game development tool, and my brother is very confident about it. After the first game, Kungfu Kid, failed, he invested another million into this project. He’s determined to make it work.”

“A flash project?” Cao Kang’s mind raced.

If Shao Erbo, who was known for his keen insight and ability, thought highly of this project and was willing to invest such a large amount, it meant it had great potential.

After considering, Cao Kang said, “I’m really interested in this project. Could you ask your brother if I could invest in it?”

“You want to invest? How much are you thinking?” Shao Xiaobo asked immediately. Although their big company didn’t lack funds, the game development department was new and not highly valued by the higher-ups, so external investment wouldn’t be refused.

After a moment of contemplation, Cao Kang said, “I can put in 2 million, but I want a say in this project.”

“Two million!” Shao Xiaobo was surprised. This amount exceeded the realm of mere entertainment. “Are you serious?”

“That’s why I said it’s good news. Talk to your brother and see if it’s doable,” Cao Kang continued.

“Alright, I’ll ask him and let you know.” Before hanging up, Shao Xiaobo chuckled, “If this works out, you owe me one.”

“Of course.”

Ending the call, Cao Kang had a cold smile. “Ye Cui, once this software is developed, I’ll make sure to see your defeated face!”

Investing in the flash project, Cao Kang intended to crush Ye Cui as an insider, relishing the thought of it.

...

The Street Fighter tournament jointly organized by Ye Cui and Golden Sun Entertainment was about to take place. The online promotional ads had already caused a sensation on the internet. The hottest topic recently was Street Fighter.

With its signature moves and battle cries, Street Fighter had become a hot topic, and combat videos were dominating video site rankings. Terms like Professor Cha, Cha God, and Cha Brother related to Ye Cui also became trending search terms.

The game mall also gained widespread recognition. Many people eagerly awaited Ye Cui’s next game. The news that Professor Cha would release a game every week had thrilled everyone.

Early in the morning, Ye Cui sat at the dining table, browsing the news on his light brain screen with a faint smile. Occasionally, he glanced at Fang Nan, busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen, with a hint of regret on his face.

Last night had been so close...

Seeing Fang Nan’s determined look, Ye Cui thought they might have gone further if not for Fang Xi’s interruption. Damn Fang Xi!

Thinking of this, Ye Cui wanted to confront Fang Xi. But, surprisingly, Fang Xi, who usually appeared punctually at the dining table, was nowhere to be seen.

“Could he be hiding in his room out of fear?” Ye Cui wondered.

Fang Nan brought out a simple breakfast and placed it in front of Ye Cui. When she saw Ye Cui, her face blushed slightly. However, she said nothing about the previous night, and naturally, Ye Cui couldn’t bring it up either. It wasn’t like he could just say, “Let’s continue from where we left off last night,” right?

Opportunities would come again.

“By the way, Chuizhu, Xiaoyou might contact you later,” Fang Nan said as she sat down beside Ye Cui.

“She’s contacting me?” Ye Cui was puzzled.

Zuo Xiaoyou had helped Ye Cui set up Cha War Police Network Company and was fully developing a gaming information website. She periodically reported the progress to Ye Cui. Although Fang Nan seemed to dislike Zuo Xiaoyou, she never spoke ill of her but clearly showed her displeasure when Ye Cui communicated with Zuo Xiaoyou.

Hearing Fang Nan mention Xiaoyou contacting him was surprising.

Fang Nan explained, “Xiaoyou sometimes contacts me to ask about programming issues. You want to turn the gaming information website into a gaming community, which requires professional programming skills. Last night, she asked me some questions about this and mentioned she found a biological research lab for your leg treatment. She can arrange for you to be examined soon.”

“Really? I’ve been looking for a reliable research lab. If she has connections, that’s great.” Ye Cui was thrilled.

To treat his paralysis, the muscle vitality serum required for a treatment course cost millions. Such high-level treatments were not commonly available and were typically reserved for wealthy families. Even if ordinary people managed to gather the money, they would still need to negotiate with large labs to get the serum formulated.

Although many labs had the formula, the effectiveness of the serum couldn’t be guaranteed. Ye Cui was unwilling to settle for less and was determined to find the best, no matter the cost, for his legs.

Just as Ye Cui was finishing breakfast, he received a call from Zuo Xiaoyou.

“It’s from a classmate of mine,” Zuo Xiaoyou explained after connecting. “We met at a reunion recently, and I found out he works at a major research lab called Tianyang Research Institute, one of the top labs in the world. I kept an eye out for you and arranged for you to get checked and treated there soon.”

“Tianyang Laboratory?” Ye Cui recognized the name. It was indeed a world-renowned lab known for serving major pharmaceutical companies. Regular people found it hard to get an appointment there. Since Zuo Xiaoyou had this connection, Ye Cui didn’t hesitate. “That’s great. When’s the appointment?”

“The day after tomorrow, at noon.”

“The day after tomorrow?” Ye Cui frowned slightly. The day after tomorrow was the day of the Street Fighter tournament, and as Professor Cha, he should be present. But no event was more important than his legs. “Alright, I’ll be there on time.”

After discussing the website with Zuo Xiaoyou, who praised Street Fighter and felt more confident about the site’s future, they ended the call.

Just then, the apartment door opened, and Fang Xi walked in. Seeing him, both Ye Cui and Fang Nan were surprised—Fang Xi was in shorts, a T-shirt, and running shoes, drenched in sweat and panting heavily, as if he had just undergone intense exercise.

Ye Cui couldn’t help but shout, “Damn, Fang Xi, don’t tell me you went for a morning run!”

Fang Xi wiped the sweat from his face. “I ran for over an hour. This is just the beginning. I’m going to keep it up—I’m going to lose weight!”
