ROSGT Chapter 177: Don't I Have a Right to Keep a Diary?

 ### Volume 1, Chapter 177: Don't I Have a Right to Keep a Diary?

Actually, Ye Chui didn’t trust Mo Feng very much. However, since the assassin had already come after them, he couldn’t just sit and wait to be killed. Whether Mo Feng was trustworthy or not would depend on how he handled this task. At the very least, Ye Chui believed in Mo Feng’s combat skills, which should be sufficient to deal with the assassin. This was purely an intuition.

Moreover, Mo Feng was now formally negotiating a price with Ye Chui, establishing a sort of employer-employee relationship. This made Ye Chui more confident that Mo Feng would get the job done.

Ye Chui agreed on a price with Mo Feng and provided the address that Robert had found for the assassin, Xue Hu.

“I hope you can find out who the mastermind is behind this,” Ye Chui said to Mo Feng.

Ye Chui had a vague idea of who it might be, but he still wanted concrete evidence.

“Okay, I'll do my best to get him to talk,” Mo Feng replied with a casual smile. “I’ll handle him now, and you just wait for my news.”

Ending the call, Ye Chui let out a breath and his eyes flashed with cold light. Someone had actually hired an assassin to kill him. He couldn’t believe he had been living under such threat for the past few days. This realization made him extremely unhappy. Whoever was behind this would pay dearly.

...

In a rundown motel, Xue Hu sat on a bed, covered in wounds, smoking a cigarette. His face was still painted with makeup, mixed with scratches from the car accident. It was a tragic sight.

His portable computer suddenly beeped, indicating an incoming call. It was Lin Xiangfeng. Xue Hu answered.

“How did the mission go?” Lin Xiangfeng asked urgently. “Is Ye Chui dead? Did you kill him?”

With a hoarse voice from smoking all afternoon, Xue Hu replied, “Sorry, I’m not taking this job anymore.”

“What? How can you back out now?” Lin Xiangfeng was shocked.

Xue Hu let out a bitter laugh. “The target is too dangerous, beyond my capabilities. If I want to stay alive, I need to back out now. Otherwise, I won’t survive.”

Lin Xiangfeng was stunned. He had done some research on Ye Chui, who had an ordinary background and had only recently gained fame from developing games. How could he be considered dangerous?

The most dangerous person around Ye Chui was probably Fang Nan…

Unable to understand, Lin Xiangfeng asked, “Is it about the money? I can increase the payment.”

“It’s not about the money. This task is beyond my scope. I’ll return the deposit you gave me. Also...” Xue Hu thought for a moment and added, “Mr. Lin, I suggest you don’t mess with him anymore. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”

With that, Xue Hu ended the call. He sighed, took a deep drag of his cigarette, and then tossed the cigarette butt aside.

He then pulled out his diary.

[Blood Fox Diary: xxx year, August 24th, Weather: Clear.]

Just as he started writing, there was a knock at the door.

“Who is it?” Xue Hu asked cautiously.

A thick voice came from outside, “I’m here with a food delivery.”

“I didn’t order any food!” Xue Hu put down his diary and grabbed a knife, moving to the door.

“It’s complimentary from the motel,” the thick voice continued.

“No, thank you!”

“Turning down free food? It’s really delicious. Want to take a look?”

“I said no, please leave!”

“Sir, just take a look. You’ll regret it if you don’t.”

“Enough! I said no, and I mean it!”

“Well, that puts me in a tough spot…” the voice outside sounded troubled but didn’t leave.

Xue Hu felt a sense of pressure and his breathing quickened. Moments later, the voice outside muttered to itself, “Strange, this always works in the movies. Guess I’ll have to force my way in…”

Hearing this, Xue Hu’s expression changed. He quickly jumped back.

Bang!

The flimsy motel door was smashed open, and a big guy barged in. It was Mo Feng.

As the door shattered, Mo Feng launched himself at Xue Hu like a missile.

Xue Hu narrowed his eyes, flashing his knife at Mo Feng’s vital points.

But the knife clattered to the floor, embedding itself in the rotten wooden floorboards.

Mo Feng had grabbed Xue Hu’s hand holding the knife.

Xue Hu was shocked and reached for his gun with his other hand.

But Mo Feng’s fist was already smashing into his stomach.

The blow was so powerful that Xue Hu’s movements halted. The excruciating pain made it impossible for him to cry out. He crumpled to the ground.

All of this happened in an instant.

By the time the splinters from the broken door hit the floor, Xue Hu was already down.

He looked at Mo Feng in disbelief. This guy was incredibly strong.

Collapsing, Xue Hu gave a bitter laugh. “I didn’t expect you to be so formidable. You must be the second most powerful person around Ye Chui, right?”

“Second?” Mo Feng asked, puzzled.

Xue Hu coughed, recalling Fang Nan. Mo Feng was physically strong, but Fang Nan’s strength was nightmarish.

Mo Feng couldn’t understand Xue Hu’s ranking system. He squatted and patted Xue Hu’s shoulder. “Who hired you? Tell me, and I’ll make your death quick.”

Xue Hu laughed, “No amount of torture will make me betray a client—I won’t talk even if you kill me!”

Mo Feng frowned, realizing it wouldn’t be easy to get the name.

Then he noticed a black notebook labeled “Diary.” Curious, he picked it up.

Xue Hu was horrified. “Hey, that’s my diary! You’re invading my privacy!”

He reached for the diary, but Mo Feng slapped him down, flipping through the pages. Astonished, he asked, “You refuse to talk but write everything in your diary?”

Xue Hu replied, “Can’t I have a habit of keeping a diary?”

...

At 11 PM, everyone in the studio, except for Wang Shiyu, who was already asleep, was still working on their computers.

As the final game Ye Chui personally oversaw, *The King of Fighters* was nearing completion.

They were pushing to finish it since only a bit of work remained. Also, they were all curious about Mo Feng’s progress, so no one wanted to sleep yet.

A knock on the door interrupted them.

Fang Nan went to open it. “Mo Feng, why are you here?”

Ye Chui looked over.

Mo Feng stood at the door, holding a takeout box from Lucky Dumplings. “The boss asked me to bring some late-night snacks.”

“It’s so late, and you brought us food? How thoughtful,” Fang Nan said, taking the box. “Come in and sit for a while.”

“No, I have other things to do, but I need to speak with the boss,” Mo Feng replied with a smile.

Ye Chui had already wheeled himself to the door.

Fang Nan, not suspecting anything, took the food to the kitchen to heat it.

Robert and Eva joined Ye Chui at the door.

“How did it go?” Ye Chui asked.

“It’s done,” Mo Feng nodded.

“And the mastermind?”

“He wouldn’t talk,” Mo Feng smiled wryly, “but he wrote everything in his diary…”

He handed the diary to Ye Chui.

Ye Chui took it, feeling speechless. This assassin was quite unique.

Flipping through, Ye Chui quickly found what he was looking for.

[Blood Fox Diary, xx year, August 13th, Weather: Clear.

Today I got a job to kill a cripple. The client is a wealthy young man named Lin Xiangfeng…]

“Lin Xiangfeng, it was him!” Ye Chui said coldly.

Standing behind Ye Chui, Eva trembled slightly.

Eva had come to China on a job from Lin Xiangfeng to hack Professor Fork's game website. She ended up meeting the long-lost Robert and joining the studio.

Lin Xiangfeng had studied in the US for a few years, where Eva met him. She knew some of his secrets.

“Lin Xiangfeng hired the assassin?”

Eva’s eyes turned icy. She glanced at Fang Xi, who was testing *The King of Fighters* installation, and clenched her fists.

She remembered how Fang Xi had tried to protect her during the car incident today.

Her initial interest in Fang Xi might have been superficial, but today’s event truly moved her.

So now Eva was furious.

“Professor Fork, I can deal with Lin Xiangfeng,” Eva said to Ye Chui.

Curious, Ye Chui looked at her as she continued coldly, “I can ruin him, even to the point where his family can’t protect him.”

Eva knew Lin Xiangfeng’s weaknesses, which was a previously hinted-at plot point.
