Chapter 158: What Is This Script You Wrote?
After arriving at Jinyun Records, Ye Chui first went to the dance practice room prepared for the artists.
In the spacious room, Ye Ling was practicing dancing with several dancers. As a singer, having dance skills was a must. Ye Ling had no problem with her singing abilities, having studied music, but she had no foundation in dance and needed to train quickly.
Jinyun Records honored their promise to Ye Chui, providing the best resources for Ye Ling, including hiring a famous dance instructor and professional dancers to practice with her.
Ye Ling was a strong and resilient girl. She wasn't proud or complacent despite her brother being a music godfather. In fact, none of the girls practicing with her knew her identity.
Moving to the music, Ye Ling soon noticed Ye Chui. After finishing a routine, she wiped her sweat with a towel and approached him, full of joy: "Brother, you're here!"
"Yeah, I had some business to take care of, so I came to see you," Ye Chui said with a smile. Seeing his sister work so hard at dancing, he felt a bit sorry for her and continued to persuade her, "You don't have to tire yourself out. It's fine if you're not good at dancing. As long as you sing well, it's enough."
"No way," Ye Ling replied while wiping her sweat. "All the famous singers are good at both singing and dancing. How can I not dance well? Besides, my dance teacher says I have a talent for it, so it's not too hard."
"Alright then," Ye Chui acknowledged his sister's ambition, which he was pleased to see. "Just take care of yourself and don't overwork."
"Don't worry, brother. I won't. Zhou Ming will take care of me," Ye Ling said, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Damn it!
Ye Chui immediately frowned: "Is that kid bothering you a lot these days?"
Fang Nan rolled her eyes and lightly smacked Ye Chui's shoulder: "How many times have I told you to stop meddling in their business? Besides, didn't you already approve of Zhou Ming last time?"
"That's different!" Last time, Zhou Ming indeed did well, and Ye Chui was willing to give him a chance. But now that Ye Ling was staying at the company every day to practice dance, what if Zhou Ming had bad intentions?
As her brother, Ye Chui had to be concerned!
Ye Chui said to Ye Ling with concern, "Xiao Ling, you shouldn't stay at the company. It's not safe. I'll help you rent another apartment..."
Fang Nan, amused, interrupted him: "Stop overthinking it. You're being too much of a brother."
The brother complex is really scary.
Ye Ling also shyly lowered her head, saying, "Brother, staying at the company is fine. If I rent another apartment, people will gossip."
"What gossip? You're going to be a big star. If anyone dares to gossip, they can come to me!" Ye Chui said defiantly.
Fang Nan was a bit embarrassed. Ye Chui was great in every way, but he lost control when it came to his sister... She pushed Ye Chui's wheelchair out of the dance room, saying to Ye Ling, "I'll take your brother out first. You keep practicing. We'll have lunch together later."
"Okay, Sister Fang Nan," Ye Ling said with a smile.
Watching Fang Nan push Ye Chui away, Ye Ling smiled softly. She wouldn't blame her brother for being overprotective. She knew it was just his way of caring.
At the same time, she thought Fang Nan was wonderful, wondering when she could officially call her sister-in-law.
In the same reception room as before, quite a few people were already there. Zhang Jinyun and Chu Qingci were present.
Seeing Ye Chui arrive, Zhang Jinyun hurriedly stood up and greeted him with a smile, "Mr. Ye, you look much better than a few days ago. It seems your legs are almost healed. Congratulations!"
"Not bad," Ye Chui replied with a smile, then began to look around the reception room.
Song Tianpeng and Li Mingxian were among those present.
Ye Chui was a bit puzzled. He had bet with these two; who were the others?
Zhang Jinyun, always the smooth talker, exchanged a few pleasantries with Ye Chui before quickly introducing the others. "This is Mr. Wang from Hercules Investment Company, this is Mr. Zhang, a venture capitalist, and..."
After a series of introductions, Ye Chui understood.
They had brought in some film investors.
Besides investors, there were also some industry insiders, like Bai Feng, the host of Yanjing TV's film show, and Zheng Zishan, Li Mingxian's assistant director, along with two professional film critics.
"These people are very knowledgeable about films. They're the best judges of whether a script is good," Zhang Jinyun added after the introductions, indicating that these people were brought by Song Tianpeng to judge Ye Chui's script.
Song Tianpeng looked young but was well-known in the film industry, having written many acclaimed works. He pointed to the people behind him and said to Ye Chui, "Where's your script? Show it to everyone. Whether it's worth investing in as a movie, these people are the best judges. I don't need all of them to approve it. If even one person says your script is good, I'll admit I lost the bet. How about that?"
As he spoke, Song Tianpeng had a disdainful expression, convinced that Ye Chui couldn't produce a worthwhile script. Screenwriting wasn't something just anyone could do!
Ye Chui ignored him and greeted the investors and industry insiders.
They were all very respectful to Ye Chui. Even though they didn't believe he could write a good script, they didn't dare offend him given his new title as a music godfather.
"This is my script. Please take a look," Ye Chui said, distributing the *The Eagle Shooting Heroes* script to everyone via the local network.
Even Chu Qingci and Zhang Jinyun received a copy.
For the next half hour, everyone read the script in silence.
Fang Nan was a bit nervous, gripping Ye Chui's shoulder tightly. She had read the script this morning and found it hilarious, laughing until she was in stitches. But she knew it was non-mainstream and worried whether it would be accepted.
Ye Chui was also a bit anxious. The script was a classic, but would these people recognize its value?
The outlook wasn't promising. Some people's faces showed confusion at the absurd plot, while others frowned, disliking the character settings.
Zhang Jinyun and Chu Qingci, although neutral, didn't want to offend the investors and directors or upset Ye Chui. They looked anxious, whispering to each other, clearly not thinking much of the script.
As for Song Tianpeng, he soon wore a scornful expression, like a famous writer reading a child's essay.
"Mm?"
Ye Chui was feeling disappointed that no one appreciated this great movie when he suddenly noticed someone different.
The assistant director, Zheng Zishan, wasn't looking disdainful or dismissive. Instead, he seemed excited and delighted.
"Seems like only he understands how outstanding this script is..." Ye Chui thought.
Half an hour quickly passed.
"Everyone finished?" Song Tianpeng spoke first, looking down at Ye Chui. "No need for me to say more about the script, right? Mr. Ye, I think you should just hand over the rights to *The Legend of the Condor Heroes*. This script of yours... what is it?"
Ye Chui's eyes grew cold: "Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others won't."
"Fine, let's hear their opinions," Song Tianpeng said confidently, turning to the judges.
"Mr. Bai Feng, you're a film show host. What do you think of this script?" Song Tianpeng asked with a smile.
Bai Feng closed his computer, his tone indifferent: "I was looking forward to seeing Professor Fork's script. Now, I see... Mr. Ye, don't take this personally. I'm just being honest."
Ye Chui smiled and shook his head, indicating he didn't mind.
Internally, he thought, Damn, if you can't recognize a classic, how are you a host?
Song Tianpeng then asked the others for their opinions.
Although they were polite, they all said the script was not a script at all. The plot was incoherent, illogical, and nonsensical. In short, no one would watch a movie made from it.
"Mr. Ye, I think you've lost this bet," Song Tianpeng said smugly. "The rights to *The Legend of the Condor Heroes*..."
"Wait a minute."
At this moment, Zheng Zishan suddenly spoke. He hesitated, clearly having the least authority among them, but he mustered the courage to say, "I... I think this script is excellent."
