Chapter 151: Let Her Ruin the Wedding
Mohe Village.
At the neighbor's house next to Ye Chui's studio.
"When all those police suddenly arrived just now, I knew that those living next door weren't good people. They must have committed some crime!" The wife of the neighbor's household was peeking through the window with a gossiping expression. "Especially since they brought a foreign woman over these past two days. Tsk tsk, her clothes are so revealing. Does she have any shame?"
Her husband, who was also looking out the window, mumbled something, a knowing expression flashing across his face.
He had developed a habit of waiting to see the foreign woman jogging every day. Tsk tsk, her figure was so hot, incomparable to his wife's barrel waist.
The wife continued to crane her neck, scrutinizing, "I didn't see anyone being taken away just now. Husband, what do you think they do? I've seen the police catch criminals many times, but they sent five police cars this time."
"Just mind your own business and don't get involved," the husband advised. "I think that family is trouble, especially that woman named Fang Nan. For some reason, every time I see her, I get a creepy feeling... We should be careful not to provoke them."
"What are you afraid of?" the wife sneered. "It's broad daylight, and at most, they are just some small-time thieves. It's not like they're an international crime syndicate as seen on TV. What are you scared of?"
"Better safe than sorry," the husband muttered.
"You’re so cowardly. I'm not worried at all..."
The wife was about to mock her husband further when a buzzing noise filled the air.
Was that... a helicopter?
She stuck her head out of the window and quickly pulled it back in, her face turning pale.
"Honey, what’s wrong?" the husband asked urgently.
"Helicopters... at least five of them!" she stammered.
No sooner had she spoken than a convoy of military trucks arrived, bringing at least thirty soldiers.
The trucks stopped in front of the house next door, and soldiers in uniform, with strict discipline and armed to the teeth, jumped out.
Buzzing continued...
Five helicopters hovered in the sky, their bright lights illuminating the area below.
It was like a scene from a movie!
"Could they really be an international crime organization!?"
The wife was so frightened that she nearly wet herself. She hurriedly found the room switch and turned off the lights, praying to every deity she could think of.
The husband stood stiffly, peeking outside, sweating profusely.
"With such a display, they must be important... We must never provoke them again," he said quickly, vowing in his heart to stop peeking at the foreign woman. This was too dangerous!
...
Inside the Wolverine Game Studio.
Ye Chui looked shocked and a bit angry at Qian Xiaomai. "Do you have to go this far? You... you actually called the army. Was it necessary?"
Fang Xi had changed into a clean T-shirt.
He had realized the commotion outside was caused by Qian Xiaomai.
"Don’t worry, I didn’t call them with any malicious intent," Qian Xiaomai said, having finished her bowl of chicken soup, wiping her mouth as she looked around for something to wipe it with.
Then she saw Fang Xi, her eyes lighting up.
Fang Xi, looking helpless, walked up to her and lifted his T-shirt, "I’ll do laundry tonight..."
— What else could he do with such a situation?
"In that case, I won't be polite." Qian Xiaomai grabbed the T-shirt and wiped her face with it.
Then she stretched lazily and stood up.
Everyone in the studio watched her, not knowing what she intended to do.
Footsteps approached, and the studio door was kicked open again. A squad of soldiers stormed in.
Their presence was much more imposing than that of the police earlier.
Leading them was a burly man who glanced around the studio. When he saw Qian Xiaomai, he frowned, "Xiaomai, why did you call us with an emergency signal?"
"Oh, I have something very serious I need your help with," she said, walking up to the soldier.
Everyone in the studio tensed up, wondering what she planned to do.
Then she said, "The orphanage is a bit far from here. It would take at least half an hour by taxi, so I figured it’d be faster to take your helicopter."
Everyone in the studio: "..."
The soldier's forehead veins bulged, his eyes wide as he glared at her.
Ye Chui and the others, including Fang Nan, Fang Xi, Eva, Robert, and Wang Shiyu, felt like fainting. She had called in an emergency signal, mobilizing helicopters and soldiers, just to get a quicker ride home?
That’s overkill!
The soldier’s face turned black. "Xiaomai, I told you not to use the emergency signal for such trivial matters. We’re busy too."
Apparently, this wasn’t the first time she’d done this.
"Hehe, got it, got it. I’ll be more careful next time," Qian Xiaomai said, her small hand waving as she continued, "But tonight is really serious. The orphanage is serving beef stew, and if I’m late, it’ll be all gone!"
"..."
Seriously?
Seeing the soldier's increasing anger, she said awkwardly, "Black-face Uncle, I won’t bother you for such things in the future, I promise."
"You said the same last time! And... stop calling me Black-face Uncle! You can call me Liu Yan or Uncle Liu!"
"Okay, Black-face Uncle, I understand."
She responded seriously.
She waved to Wang Shiyu, "Be good here. I’ll have someone bring your clothes. I’m leaving now."
With that, she walked past Liu Yan and out the door, showing no remorse or shame.
— Ye Chui felt ashamed for her. It was embarrassing.
Despite his anger, Liu Yan held back.
Qian Xiaomai’s behavior might be excessive and childish, but she had the power to back it up.
Liu Yan glanced around the studio, then walked up to Ye Chui, "Are you Qian Xiaomai's friend?"
"Sort of," Ye Chui replied, sweating.
Apparently, Qian Xiaomai's troublesome nature was well-known.
He continued, "Yes, I am."
"Not bad. It's the first time I’ve seen her with a friend," Liu Yan said, then signaled the others, "We’re leaving."
Outside, he ordered, "Find out more about this guy. Since Xiaomai left Shiyu with him, she must trust him. He might be useful in the future."
"Yes, sir," a soldier replied promptly.
Liu Yan took one last look at Ye Chui in his wheelchair, then jumped into a helicopter.
In no time, the soldiers were back on their vehicles, and the area in front of the apartment was empty.
Inside the studio, the atmosphere was tense, like a surreal dream.
Fang Xi, looking dejected, went back to change his T-shirt.
Eva watched him, her eyes shining with a different light.
Fang Nan returned to the kitchen to continue cooking, still in a daze.
Robert inspected the door that had been kicked open twice.
Wang Shiyu, used to such scenes, continued playing her game. She had only been scared earlier, thinking Qian Xiaomai was going to take her away.
Ye Chui, however, was deep in thought.
Maybe Qian Xiaomai’s actions were deliberate?
Leaving Wang Shiyu here but feeling uneasy, she might have shown Ye Chui her influence to warn him not to harm Wang Shiyu.
Ye Chui doubted Qian Xiaomai was as naive as she seemed.
On the contrary, as a genius, she likely saw through things more clearly than anyone else, albeit from a peculiar perspective.
Still, despite suspecting this, Ye Chui couldn't shake the feeling that she might genuinely have just wanted a quick ride home.
Qian Xiaomai, young as she was, had limitless potential, and the authorities would indulge her behavior.
"Those soldiers must be her personal protectors, to respond within five minutes..." Ye Chui thought, realizing the extent of her power. "I should definitely maintain a good relationship with her."
Emergency signals and such were new to Ye Chui, likely unique to this world.
Protecting someone as important as Qian Xiaomai was a top priority.
"Didn't expect it to be like this..."
Ye Chui rubbed his chin, pondering.
Earlier, Fang Nan had agreed to attend Lin Xin’s wedding over the comm, and Ye Chui had been thinking about how to handle it.
They would undoubtedly face trouble at the wedding. While Ye Chui wasn’t afraid, it was wise to be prepared.
Now, he had an interesting idea—
"How about we bring Qian Xiaomai to the wedding and let her ruin it..."
No matter how powerful their family was, they’d have to yield to the military, right?
Ha!
