Chapter 145: Did You Forget to Take Your Medicine?
Ye Chui was very angry. Just now, Hong Yong had mentioned something about twenty thousand yuan, clearly indicating that someone had paid them to come and surround Ye Chui and Fang Nan. He was just out for a meal with his girlfriend and encountered this situation. Anyone in his shoes would be upset.
Hong Yong initially smiled cheerfully; he genuinely idolized Ye Chui. Everyone in his group knew about his obsession with games. His nickname "Hong Ye" was well-known on Ye Chui's game website, where he played card games late into the night. Finally meeting Ye Chui in person, Hong Yong was ecstatic.
However, his excitement was interrupted when Ye Chui demanded to know who had hired them.
Hong Yong jumped up and pointed at Skull Tang, saying, "Hey, who gave us that twenty thousand yuan?"
Then, he quickly explained to Ye Chui, "I had no idea we were supposed to beat you up. If I had known, I wouldn't have taken the job."
"Alright, first find out who paid you to target me," Ye Chui said coldly.
Skull Tang, with a pained expression, walked over.
Skull Tang was the most unfortunate person that day. Earlier, he had been knocked down by Fang Nan, and then thrown by Mo Feng. That toss almost dislocated his whole body.
While Hong Yong had also been beaten by Mo Feng, at least Mo Feng hadn’t gone all out on him.
"Brother Hong, isn't it disloyal to reveal the client's information?" Skull Tang limped over and asked.
"Do you know what's most important for us in this line of work?" Hong Yong asked sternly.
"Loyalty?" Skull Tang hesitantly replied.
"Rubbish!" Hong Yong slapped Skull Tang on the head. "It's faith, faith, got it?"
"Faith...?" Skull Tang was confused. Why was their boss suddenly talking about faith instead of loyalty?
"Ye Chui, you're my faith. I always feel fulfilled playing your games..." Hong Yong then turned to Ye Chui, clearly a huge fan.
Ye Chui, sweating, motioned for him to stop his passionate speech. "First, figure out who's causing me trouble."
Hong Yong quickly looked at Skull Tang.
Seeing this, Skull Tang knew he couldn’t hide it anymore, so he said, "It was a female college student I knew from a nearby school. She's married into a wealthy family now. Her name is Lin Xin."
"It really is her!" Ye Chui and Fang Nan's expressions turned cold.
Ye Chui then asked, "Has she been the one telling you to cause trouble for the past half month?"
"Yeah, she gave us five thousand yuan to harass this wonton stall, hoping to drive it away," Skull Tang confessed.
The wonton stall owner, Chen Lao Er, looked puzzled. "Who is this Lin Xin? I haven’t offended her. Why is she doing this?"
Skull Tang shook his head, indicating he didn't know.
Ye Chui frowned. He suspected Lin Xin's actions were because of him, implicating the wonton stall. This thought made him very uncomfortable.
He wheeled himself to the side and opened his portable optical computer to request a communication link with Lin Xin.
The call connected quickly.
"Ye Chui!" Lin Xin exclaimed. "I knew you'd contact me. You've suffered a lot, haven't you? Got beaten up badly by Skull Tang and his guys? Haha, I told them to take pictures. Seeing those will make my day!"
Lin Xin was truly vicious towards Ye Chui. They knew each other well, so she didn’t bother with any pretense and went straight to taunting.
Ye Chui snorted coldly. "Lin Xin, did you forget to take your medicine?"
"What?" Lin Xin was taken aback.
"Rabies acting up? Biting everyone you see?" Ye Chui's voice was icy. "Targeting me is one thing, but what did the wonton stall ever do to you?"
Lin Xin's voice trembled with anger. "I just don’t like them. What's it to you? I think you've been beaten silly, talking to me like this."
"Watch your mouth!" Ye Chui growled.
This was the fourth time he had said this today, and it always worked.
"What do you mean you bought a watch? What does that have to do with me?" Lin Xin shouted, confused by Ye Chui's strange phrases.
She knew Ye Chui often used new terms she didn’t understand, like when he called her a "green tea bitch". Not knowing what these terms meant only made them more infuriating.
"I just can't stand you. Just wait. I'll have Skull Tang beat you again!" Lin Xin snapped.
Ye Chui waved Skull Tang over. "Hey, come here."
Skull Tang looked around to make sure Ye Chui was calling him. Reluctantly, and under the threat from Fang Nan, Mo Feng, and his boss who suddenly found faith instead of loyalty, he nervously approached Ye Chui. "Ye Chui... what do you want?"
Ye Chui pointed to his portable optical computer. "Say into my computer: 'Watch your mouth'."
Skull Tang was puzzled but couldn’t refuse. He leaned in and said, "Watch your mouth!"
"Skull Tang!" Lin Xin screamed. "What are you saying? Did you beat Ye Chui?"
"Lin Xin, the deal's off. Find someone else." Skull Tang quickly said. Then, thinking better of it, he added, "Actually, I suggest you don’t mess with Ye Chui anymore. Our boss won’t let you off."
After that, Skull Tang smiled obsequiously at Ye Chui.
Seeing Skull Tang being so cooperative, Ye Chui was satisfied and waved him away.
Lin Xin was furious on the other end. She couldn’t understand why Skull Tang had suddenly switched sides. She gritted her teeth and said, "Alright, Ye Chui. You’re good. But so what? My wedding with A-Kang is on the 28th of this month. Do you dare to attend?"
She intended to flaunt her happiness at her wedding, rub her wealth in Ye Chui’s face, and humiliate him.
To Ye Chui, his ex-girlfriend and enemy's wedding was intriguing.
This was a perfect occasion to make a scene, and not attending would be a waste.
However, he thought about Fang Nan.
Fang Nan didn't want to appear at such high-society events, nor did she want Ye Chui to go alone and risk it. So Ye Chui planned to decline.
But before he could speak, Fang Nan leaned in and said into the optical computer, "We’ll definitely attend your wedding, don’t worry."
Ye Chui looked at Fang Nan in surprise.
Fang Nan smiled sweetly. "Some things have to be faced. I know you want to attend the wedding, so I’ll go with you."
Lin Xin, hearing this, was even angrier and said coldly, "Fine, I'll be waiting for you!"
With that, Lin Xin ended the call.
Ye Chui looked at Fang Nan, his eyes full of tenderness. "Are you sure you want to go? You might meet people you don’t want to see."
"It’s fine. I suddenly don’t care about those things anymore," Fang Nan replied with a gentle smile.
Ye Chui couldn’t understand Lin Xin’s rabid behavior towards the wonton stall. However, Fang Nan, being a woman, understood Lin Xin’s psychology well.
This wonton stall held many memories for Ye Chui and Lin Xin. Even if Lin Xin never truly liked or cared about Ye Chui, this place was still unique to them.
Seeing Ye Chui and Fang Nan here half a month ago must have triggered Lin Xin’s subconscious jealousy and resentment, leading her to attack the wonton stall out of spite.
This animosity, in turn, enraged Fang Nan.
To Fang Nan, this was a war between women. If Lin Xin wanted to flaunt her happiness and mock Ye Chui at her grand wedding, then Fang Nan would make sure to help Ye Chui save face and humiliate Lin Xin in return.
Her man must not suffer any grievances!
Hong Yong had already driven away the thirty or forty little thugs he had brought. Now, he was formally apologizing to Chen Lao Er on behalf of their entire gang.
Ye Chui found this scene quite amusing. If Hong Yong’s gang followed his lead in the future, they could be quite useful.
Ye Chui then turned his attention to Mo Feng.
He was very curious about this tall man’s background.
Ye Chui walked up to Mo Feng. "Who are you, really?"
"Me?" Mo Feng smiled simply and said, "It’s pretty straightforward. I enlisted in the army at a young age, served for five years, and after that, worked as a private bodyguard. Recently, I beat up a boss who was bullying a woman, along with a few other bodyguards. I got caught and was detained for fifteen days. Just got out this morning."
Mo Feng's story sounded simple, but the feeling it gave was far from it.
Ye Chui sensed that Mo Feng was anything but ordinary.
Mo Feng seemed worried about being misunderstood and quickly added, "The wontons here are really good. I genuinely want to work at your stall. I'm hard-working and can handle any tough or dirty jobs—even those that aren’t exactly above board."
