ROSGT Chapter 121: Developing a Role-Playing Game**

 **Volume 1, Chapter 121: Developing a Role-Playing Game**

When Fang Xi came out of Eva’s room, he looked deep in thought as if pondering something important. Fang Nan tried to talk to him, but he didn’t hear her. Finally, Fang Nan got annoyed and gave him a punch, snapping him back to reality.

He looked at Fang Nan, “Sis, what’s up?”

“I should be asking you that. What’s up with you?” Fang Nan asked.

Fang Xi had a complicated expression on his face, “I… I was just thinking about Eva…”

“What about Eva?”

Fang Xi thought about some very inappropriate things. Seeing his sister’s inquisitive eyes, he suddenly turned shy and ran off.

Fang Nan was even more puzzled, “Why is Fang Xi acting so weird?”

Ye Chui came over to Fang Nan, deep in thought, “Nan Nan, have you noticed that Fang Xi has been acting strange ever since Eva arrived? Especially his attitude towards her, it’s very odd.”

“I’ve noticed that too.” Fang Nan agreed, suddenly having an epiphany, “Could it be… Fang Xi fell in love with Eva at first sight?”

“I think it’s possible.” Ye Chui nodded.

He had no interest in Western girls himself, but for others, Eva, with her fiery personality, was evidently quite attractive. Fang Xi’s attitude could only be explained by this reason.

“What should we do about it?” Fang Nan was troubled. She felt this wasn’t something she, as an older sister, should interfere with, but she had always taken care of her brother meticulously, so she was in a dilemma now.

As for Eva... Fang Nan felt this girl was a bit too bold, but Western women being open in their personality was not uncommon in this world, so Eva’s style of dressing wasn’t too surprising.

“Let’s just go with the flow.” Ye Chui said with a smile, “But I’ll find ways to help them along, creating more opportunities for them.”

Having watched many Western TV shows in the other world, Ye Chui had a deeply ingrained impression of Western women being fiery and open. So, Eva’s previous flirtatious behavior towards him didn’t bother him much; he just saw it as a sign of friendliness.

He began seriously thinking about how to help Fang Xi pursue his first love...

That evening, after Eva’s room was sorted out, Ye Chui was so happy about having a new high-end talent in the studio that he took everyone out for a big meal. The atmosphere was lively, as expected.

During the meal, Eva tried to get close to Ye Chui several times, but Fang Nan was there to guard him, leaving no chance—

Fang Nan was very dutiful in this regard, preventing any girl from taking advantage of Ye Chui. Ye Chui was sincerely grateful for Fang Nan’s selfless behavior...

The night passed without incident.

The next morning, after breakfast, Ye Chui gathered everyone in the studio, “Yesterday, we released ‘Fatal Fury.’ Today, we’ll start developing a new game.”

“Brother Hammer, what kind of game are we developing?” Robert immediately asked with a smile.

He loved the sense of fulfillment that came from developing games, and Ye Chui always managed to satisfy him in this regard.

“The new game is called ‘Art of Fighting...’”

Ye Chui had already made plans and now explained the concept of ‘Art of Fighting.’

The protagonist of ‘Art of Fighting’ is Ryo Sakazaki, a character from ‘King of Fighters.’ ‘Art of Fighting’ was also the first game to introduce super moves, causing a sensation at the time.

After explaining the game, Ye Chui added, “As we develop games, our game engine also gets upgraded each time. Our arcade engine is now at version 3.0. With the introduction of super moves in ‘Art of Fighting,’ it will upgrade to version 4.0. The development process isn’t too difficult; following our usual workflow, it should take three to four days. Now that we have an additional member, we have more than enough time, so I’ve decided we should work on two projects simultaneously!”

“Two projects simultaneously?” Everyone was taken aback.

Ye Chui nodded, “I have another game concept in mind. While developing ‘Art of Fighting,’ we can have two people work on the second game!”

“Brother Hammer, what’s the second game you want to develop? Is it another arcade game?” Fang Nan asked.

“No, it’s not an arcade game.” Ye Chui said with a smile, “It’s a role-playing game.”

“A role-playing game!?” The others in the studio were hearing this term for the first time. Even Eva was interested and asked in broken Chinese, “How is this type of game different from arcade fighting games?”

“The difference is huge. In arcade fighting games, players control a character to fight, and the game’s enjoyment comes entirely from the combat. Role-playing games, on the other hand, are much broader and require more player engagement.” Ye Chui explained.

He then pointed to Fang Xi, “Back when Fang Xi developed ‘Little Cat’s Adventure,’ it was actually a prototype of a role-playing game. Players controlled a cat collecting coins. But what I’m talking about is much more complex, with elements like monster battles, level-ups, item collection, and mazes.”

Role-playing games are one of the most extensive categories in gaming, with numerous titles falling under this genre. They are fundamentally different from fighting games. Fighting games seek instant gratification, whereas role-playing games can keep people engrossed for a long time.

Fang Nan, Fang Xi, Robert, and Eva quickly accepted the idea of role-playing games. They instinctively felt this was a superior game genre compared to arcade fighting games.

Robert, eager as always, asked Ye Chui, “Brother Hammer, are we going to start developing a role-playing game now? What’s our first role-playing game going to be?”

“I’ve thought of an excellent theme.” Ye Chui said with a smile.

He opened his portable computer, pulled up a document, and sent it to the others’ devices. Then he continued, “This is a novel titled ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes.’ The entire novel is over a million words long. What I’ve given you here is just 200,000 words, the first volume. We’re going to adapt this novel into a game!”

‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’ was written by Bai Miyun and had reached 200,000 words, ending at the part where Yang Tiexin and Bao Xiruo both die.

“A martial arts novel? We’re going to adapt this into a game?” Fang Xi was immediately interested in the idea. He asked, “But is our game going to be called ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’?”

“No.” Ye Chui shook his head with a smile, “It will be called ‘Jin Yong’s Heroes: The Legend of the Condor Heroes.’”

“Jin Yong’s Heroes?” Fang Nan asked curiously, “What does ‘Jin Yong’ mean?”

“Well…” Ye Chui had already thought of an explanation, “The novel was written by Bai Miyun, but she’s going to use a new pen name when it’s published. Jin Yong is her new pen name. This is going to be a series of novels, and we’ll gradually incorporate the stories into our games. That’s why it’s called ‘Jin Yong’s Heroes.’”

Now that Ye Chui was fully managing Bai Miyun’s works, he decided on how they would be published. He chose to continue using the name Jin Yong as a tribute to the great martial arts master.

When Ye Chui decided to develop an RPG (role-playing game), he had many options: ‘Chinese Paladin,’ ‘Xuan-Yuan Sword,’ and so on. However, those were god-tier games. Ye Chui wanted to practice with other projects first before tackling those, ensuring the masterpieces would be released flawlessly. Additionally, since Bai Miyun was currently writing ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes,’ Ye Chui decided to start with ‘Jin Yong’s Heroes.’

Of course, Ye Chui’s version of ‘Jin Yong’s Heroes’ would differ from the original. It would primarily follow the novel’s plot, with Guo Jing as the protagonist, allowing players to experience the story from Guo Jing’s perspective. By doing this, Ye Chui was also promoting the novel. The deeper reason was to promote the Professor X Game website, where ‘The Legend of the Condor Heroes’ would be serialized. The Professor X Game website was also launching today.

“So, Brother Hammer, who’s going to be responsible for this role-playing game?” Fang Xi asked Ye Chui.

Ye Chui smiled, pointing at Fang Xi and then at Eva, “I’m assigning this task to you two.”
