ABCFWGR Chapter 138: Can't Follow You to the Grave

"I can tell you, but first, you have to promise not to hit me after you hear it," Li Junjie said with a flicker in his eyes.

"Why on earth would I hit you?" Li Tiangan frowned suspiciously.

Li Junjie remained silent, looking at him, insisting on a promise.

Seeing this, Li Tiangan impatiently waved his hand, "Alright, alright, I promise. Stop keeping me in suspense."

Li Junjie gestured for him to come closer.

Annoyed, Li Tiangan leaned in.

However, halfway through listening, Li Tiangan suddenly stood up straight, eyes wide with rage, pointing a trembling finger at Li Junjie and cursing, "Ungrateful brat, I'll beat you to death first!"

As he spoke, he raised his hand and slapped with all his might.

"Slap!"

The slap made Li Junjie see stars, and his cheek quickly swelled up.

"Dad, why are you going back on your word?" Li Junjie mumbled incoherently.

"I've been wise all my life, how did I end up with a son like you? What kind of lousy idea is that? It's like throwing my face on the ground for everyone in Lin'an to trample on," Li Tiangan raged.

If he wasn't old and infertile, he would have disowned this son and started over.

"Dad, it's a desperate measure. Besides, I'm not doing this just for myself. If it works out, our family will benefit too. You've always dreamed of advancing further; this could be your chance!" Li Junjie argued guiltily.

This last point hit Li Tiangan's weak spot.

Li Tiangan smacked his lips, "That's true, but this matter..."

Hesitation meant hope.

Li Junjie quickly seized the opportunity, "Dad, this is just my wishful thinking. Whether Master Li will even consider us is another matter, but I have to remind you, opportunities don't wait!"

"Opportunity?!"

Li Tiangan muttered the word a few times, then gritted his teeth and said, "I really believe your nonsense. Let's try it first, but until it's done, don't tell anyone!"

"Don't worry, I know what to do," Li Junjie said smugly.

Li Tiangan still felt humiliated and glared at him, then dialed a number, "Everyone, speed up and find Master Li's residence as soon as possible."

"Yes!"

...

Xun Mansion.

Not far from Xun Mansion, at a corner, an Iveco was parked.

Inside the vehicle sat three people, the leader being Han Lie.

Han Lie looked at the other two and said in a deep voice, "Black Falcon, Eagle, I've called you both because you should know the difficulty of this mission. I won't say much more, but I have one requirement: find out everything about the target, don't miss a single detail!"

Despite the fierce names of Black Falcon and Eagle, they had faces that would disappear in a crowd.

This also proved they were excellent at gathering intelligence.

A good intelligence officer never attracts the target's attention.

Both were Han Lie's brothers, introduced by him to join Tan Bafang's team, and had been in charge of intelligence in An Province.

"Firebird, can I ask if this is a task from Master Tan, or your personal business?" Eagle's voice was hoarse and deep, as if his vocal cords were damaged.

Firebird was Han Lie's former codename.

Han Lie hadn't intended to hide it from them and replied earnestly, "To be precise, it's my personal business for now. I don't know if that person has informed Master Tan."

"If you two are worried about Master Tan blaming you later, I understand and won't force you!"

Eagle immediately punched him in the chest, "You bastard, is that what I meant? We've crawled out of death together; your business is naturally ours too!"

"The reason I asked is to figure out how much effort to put in!"

Black Falcon, usually silent, also raised his head at this point, clearly sharing the same thought as Eagle.

Han Lie didn’t say it, but his heart was full of gratitude. He smiled and threw a punch back, "My bad. When this is over, I’ll treat you guys to a nice meal as an apology, alright?"

"That sounds about right!" Eagle grinned.

Black Falcon also smiled, showing his teeth.

The three men, everything unspoken, understood each other perfectly.

After a pause.

Han Lie said seriously, "Now, let's break down the tasks in detail..."

...

The He Family.

Ever since learning that Li Yukun had arrived in Lin'an, Hu Hankan had been restless.

Others might not understand the terror of the Li brothers, but he knew it well.

This was why, despite being a Grandmaster, he had to keep fleeing.

With his strength, wiping out the entire Li family would be easy, but he had no confidence in killing both brothers at once.

If even one escaped, he would face endless disaster.

A Grandmaster, though powerful, could not withstand insidious schemes, an irreversible truth.

"Master Hu, could you sit down and rest? You're making me dizzy with all your pacing," Old Lady He said, rubbing her eyes.

Hu Hankan turned and glared at her, "Are you pleased now, hoping for my downfall?"

Old Lady He didn’t know much about his issues, only having heard rumors that he once served the Li family, but not knowing the details.

She protested, "Master Hu, we are both in Mr. Gu's service now. Our fates are tied together; I would never hope for your downfall."

She had a point.

Hu Hankan, hands behind his back, snorted coldly but said no more.

Old Lady He didn’t take it to heart. She had figured out his temperament over time—he was like a mule that needed gentle handling.

Seizing this chance to mend their relationship, she took out a document and placed it on the table, "Master Hu, I have a gift for Mr. Gu. Could you

do me the favor of delivering it?"

Upon hearing this, Hu Hankan’s face lit up. He had been worrying about finding an excuse to meet Gu Chen to gather information. Now, he had one. However, he feigned reluctance, "Can't the servants handle it?"

"I'm not comfortable entrusting it to the servants. If they offend Mr. Gu, the consequences would be disastrous," Old Lady He played along.

"In that case, I'll reluctantly do you this favor," Hu Hankan said, pretending to be magnanimous.

"Thank you, Master Hu," Old Lady He said, handing over the document.

After Hu Hankan took the document and left, Old Lady He dropped her calm demeanor and sighed worriedly.

Not long ago, she had received a call from Li Yukun offering cooperation and promising to lift the He family's curse.

This made her realize that the Li family’s target wasn’t Liu Hanyan but Gu Chen.

Sending Hu Hankan to see Gu Chen was partly to mend their relationship and also to gather information about Gu Chen’s situation.

"The Li family of An Province, a colossal entity!"

Old Lady He muttered to herself with a complicated expression, "I can't drag the hundred lives of the He family to the grave with you!"
