Chen Qianchuan flicked his sleeve and snorted heavily.

Wu Anqi's face changed, and she angrily said, "Everyone should be responsible for their actions. Why are you dragging my dad into this?"

This guy was really unscrupulous. Unable to win the argument, he resorted to threatening her with her parents. How shameless!

Seeing her fear, Chen Qianchuan arrogantly adjusted his collar and said, "Do you know who I am? Do you know who you are? Even your father has to greet me respectfully as 'Mr. Chen.' What right do you have to talk to me?"

"Arguing with a little girl like you only lowers my status!"

His words were infuriating.

Yet, Wu Anqi was helpless against him. No matter how infuriating it was, the world was just this realistic.

In the business world, just like in officialdom, higher status means more power. The Wu family was indeed several levels below the Chen family.

Seeing this, Chen Qianchuan's eyes lit up, and he said, "Don't think I'm bullying a little girl. I'll give you a chance. If you apologize to me now and go back to where you came from, I'll be magnanimous and won't go after your father. How about that?"

"Dream on! You can't bully my best friend!" Wu Anqi stubbornly held her ground.

Chen Qianchuan was so angry that he was fuming, repeating "good" three times. The meaning was obvious.

Going to Wu Dayong to demand an explanation was already a settled matter.

Wu Anqi ignored Chen Qianchuan and looked at Chen Wantai, saying, "Uncle Chen, I don't want to interfere in your family matters, but if you still consider Yuwei your daughter, you should take this man and leave instead of standing by."

Chen Wantai felt deeply ashamed and couldn't meet her gaze. After hesitating for a moment, he said to Chen Qianchuan, "Second Brother, things have escalated too much. We should come back another day."

"Another day? Which day? Do you believe that if we leave now, this little girl will convince Yuwei to run away? Where will we find her then?" Chen Qianchuan said angrily.

Chen Wantai clicked his tongue and reminded him, "Don't forget, Anqi has already called the police. The City Patrol is on their way. Are you sure you can explain this clearly? We might both end up in jail."

He was determined to fight for his daughter's freedom.

Chen Qianchuan was unwilling, but said stubbornly, "What's there to explain? You're her father, and I'm her uncle. It's still a family matter."

"Do family matters include restricting someone's freedom? If you push it, it's kidnapping!" Wu Anqi added to scare him.

Chen Qianchuan wasn't sure if she was bluffing. He didn't know the laws in this area, but he was indeed frightened. Pointing at Wu Anqi, he said harshly, "Just you wait, this isn't over!"

Then he entered the elevator, fleeing in a hurry without waiting for Chen Wantai.

Chen Wantai sighed again, looking at his daughter and then at Wu Anqi. "Take good care of Yuwei for me. Don't worry about your father; I'll stop him from coming."

Wu Anqi nodded but didn't speak, still holding a grudge against Chen Wantai.

As a father, he didn't stand up for his daughter but instead helped the oppressor, which was very disappointing.

Wu Anqi thought, "If I had a daughter, anyone who tried to bully her would have to step over my dead body first. No one would touch a hair on her head!"

Chen Wantai, feeling too ashamed to say anything else, left dejectedly.

After everyone had left, Chen Yuwei, as if drained of energy, almost collapsed.

Wu Anqi, startled, quickly supported her and gently said, "Yuwei, let me take you back to your room."

"Anqi, thank you. If you hadn't shown up in time, I... I..." Chen Yuwei choked up, unable to continue.

Wu Anqi patted her comfortingly, "Don't say it. I understand. We're best friends, after all. Don't forget, being best friends is more important than anything!"

Chen Yuwei laughed through her tears, feeling like she was back in their girlhood.

Hearing the silence outside, Gu Chen's eyelids fluttered. He gained a new appreciation for Wu Anqi's ability to handle situations.

Although he didn't step outside, he was aware of everything happening outside the door.

So, he was fully aware of Wu Anqi's performance.

"Didn't expect she could be so fierce!"

Gu Chen smiled, then shook his head, "It's not that she changed, but that she behaves too obediently in front of me, making me forget her original personality."

In the past, Wu Anqi despised him and often mocked him. He couldn't remember when she started hiding her claws, becoming as docile as a kitten.

As for Chen Yuwei, Gu Chen's feelings were complex and hard to define.

The door closed softly as Wu Anqi helped Chen Yuwei sit on the bed and thoughtfully handed her a bottle of water, "Drink some water to calm down."

Chen Yuwei didn't refuse and took small sips, her slender neck looking beautiful like a swan, if not for her current pallor.

"Why did you drink so much?" 

Wu Anqi noticed the scattered empty bottles on the floor and frowned.

Chen Yuwei hung her head in shame and smiled bitterly, "What can relieve sorrow? Only Du Kang. You know, I just wanted to drink away my worries!"

"Bull! If you ruin your health, what will you use to deal with your worries?" Wu Anqi said irritably.

In her heart, though, she was puzzled. Hadn't Yuwei already gotten together with Gu Chen? 

Logically, she should be in high spirits, so why was she drowning her sorrows? It didn't make sense.

"By the way, how did you happen to show up so coincidentally?" Chen Yuwei asked curiously.

Wu Anqi turned her head nervously and lied, "I... I came to check on you. I was worried about you since the last time we met. I didn't expect to be so timely."

She didn't dare mention that she was actually looking for Gu Chen. What if Yuwei couldn't handle the shock and fainted?

Little did she know, 

Chen Yuwei had no idea that Gu Chen was also staying at this hotel, let alone that anything indescribable had happened between them.

"So that's it. Can you stay with me today?" Chen Yuwei asked expectantly, not doubting her.

Wu Anqi felt a bit troubled. She had already promised Gu Chen not to meddle. If she stayed, she feared Gu Chen would be angry again. She said cautiously, "I'm afraid not. I have work to do at the company. But... I can come back tonight to keep you company."

This way, she could take care of both sides. But she would have to sneak back at night without getting caught by Gu Chen, she thought.

Chen Yuwei was a bit disappointed but still satisfied, smiling and nodding, "Okay!"

Wu Anqi quietly breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like she was having an affair.
