"You've been unconscious for a whole day and night. Just wait here, I'll go get the doctor," the nurse replied, briskly walking out before Nightfall could ask anything else.
In the hospital room, Nightfall closed his eyes, carefully recollecting everything that had happened before.
He had just been dumped by his girlfriend and was feeling distraught. Nightfall, wandering aimlessly, had witnessed a young boy running into the middle of the road while playing, just as a van came speeding by. In the nick of time, Nightfall pushed the boy out of harm's way, but he himself was hit by the van.
Thinking back on this, Nightfall looked down at his body, covered in bandages with several stitched wounds. He was bruised all over, with an IV drip attached to his hand.
Seeing his sorry state, Nightfall couldn't help but let out a bitter smile.

Nightfall's stomach protested.

In the hospital room, the nurse kept watching Nightfall, feeling somewhat puzzled by his blank expression. "How did he go from being fine just now to like this?"

So, Nightfall sat up, removed the IV drip.
