AFVSIBS Chapter 24: Knowing the Truth Behind Liu Chao's False Story

"Of course, it was Liu Chao who told me. During the task this morning from your program team, he happened to find me and told me these things. He even begged me to help him no matter what, so I gave him a perfect score for his cooking. Otherwise, his cooking skills probably wouldn't even be worth a passing grade." Grandma Yang replied.

"It's fake, it's all fake."

Zhou Chen and Liu Chao were both highly regarded trainees at Wanhe Entertainment. They had trained together and eaten together for a long time, so Zhou Chen knew Liu Chao's situation very well.

All those tales of a pitiful background, losing his parents at a young age, putting himself through college by picking up junk — they were all lies.

He was the epitome of a wealthy second generation, just wanting to debut as a star, which was why he became a trainee.

Zhou Chen couldn't believe Liu Chao would deceive Grandma Yang like this just for a chance.

No wonder this wealthy second generation's cooking skills earned a perfect score; apparently, that perfect score came from this.

"Fake? Why do you say that?" Grandma Yang felt puzzled.

"Well, you see, both Liu Chao and I are from Wanhe Entertainment. We've spent a lot of time together, so I know his family background very well. He comes from a wealthy family, both his parents are alive, and he has some connections in the company." Zhou Chen explained.

"What! Is that so? So he deceived me? He lied to me?" Grandma Yang was furious upon learning the truth.

"Grandma, don't be angry, it's not good for your health."

Seeing her grandmother getting emotional, Yang Hanhan immediately comforted her, afraid she might get sick from anger.

"This Liu Chao is despicable, actually fabricating such a story just to get a perfect score from me. I absolutely won't let him get away with this. I'll go find Zhao, the director of the program team, and expose his trickery." Grandma Yang declared.

"Liu Chao's behavior is indeed despicable. Grandma, you go find Zhao first. If Zhao isn't willing to take care of it, I'll post on Weibo to expose his despicable behavior." Yang Hanhan suggested.

"No, I don't want to use your influence. Otherwise, people will know about our relationship, and I don't want to attract so much attention. I just like my peaceful life now." Grandma Yang said with a smile.

"Okay, then you handle it yourself."

Yang Hanhan had always listened to her grandmother, so she followed her lead at this moment.

"Sigh, people are really infuriating. It seems that Liu Chao is far inferior to Zhou Chen."

Grandma Yang couldn't help but sigh at this moment.

"Thank you for your praise, Grandma. I won't disturb your reunion. I'll leave first." Zhou Chen said.

"Zhou Chen, are you leaving so soon? Are you afraid I'll eat you?" Yang Hanhan joked.

"Yang Jie, you're really joking. You're not a tiger, why would you eat me? I just don't want to disturb your reunion. I can tell it's been a while since you've seen each other. It's a rare opportunity." Zhou Chen explained.

"Okay, if you need any help, you can also send me a WeChat message."

"Thank you, Yang Jie. I didn't ask you any questions during the program today, causing you embarrassment. I apologize for that."

"Small matter, don't worry about it. I wasn't angry or bothered at all; in fact, I think your behavior adds some character," Yang Hanhan said.

"Yeah, Zhou Chen, my Hanhan isn't the type to hold grudges over small things like this. If you're leaving, take some fruit with you. Otherwise, as an old lady, I won't be able to finish them all at home," Grandma Yang added, handing Zhou Chen several pieces of fruit from the table.

Zhou Chen initially wanted to decline, but it was hard to refuse such hospitality, so he reluctantly accepted them all and took them back to his lodging.

After nearly finishing packing his luggage, his phone rang. It was a call from Chen Bo.

Seeing Chen Bo's call, Zhou Chen thought he might be inviting him to play table tennis tonight.

After all, Chen Bo had mentioned yesterday that if Zhou Chen had free time, they could play table tennis together at night.

So, he immediately answered the call without waiting for Chen Bo to speak and said, "Chen Bo, hello! Are you calling to ask if I want to play table tennis tonight?"

"Haha, I do want to play table tennis with you tonight. But my son has come back, so we can't play tonight," Chen Bo replied with a smile.

From his tone, it was evident that Chen Bo was very happy about his son suddenly coming back to visit.

"Oh, I see. Then why did you call me?" Zhou Chen asked.

"Last night, my son felt very guilty and self-blaming for not being able to celebrate my birthday with me. But after I told him about you spending my birthday with me and playing table tennis, he felt a little better. He's very grateful to you and would like to meet you. So, he wants to have dinner with you tonight. Do you have time?" Chen Bo explained.

"I see. That's very kind of him. But there's no need for dinner. If he wants to meet me, I can come over later." Zhou Chen replied.

"It's you who's too kind. It's settled then. Come over to my place at half-past five, and we'll go out together," Chen Bo insisted.

"Alright, then I won't be polite. After dinner, if I have time, we can play table tennis together." Zhou Chen suggested.

"Sure, that's settled. See you later."

With that, Chen Bo hung up the phone with a smile.

Checking the time, Zhou Chen saw that it was still early for half-past five. He decided to open his laptop and write down the lyrics for "The Moon Represents My Heart."

He was very familiar with this song, so he easily wrote down the lyrics.

As for the melody, that was even easier. In this parallel world, there was professional music composition software, so he could simply input what he wanted, and it would generate it.

After everything was done, Zhou Chen didn't immediately send it to Yang Hanhan. He wanted to avoid shocking her too much.

His plan was to send it to her tomorrow night or even later.

At half-past five in the afternoon, Zhou Chen closed his laptop and went downstairs to find Chen Bo.

"Isn't this the Zhou Chen who decided to slack off and let go of his future? Did you just wake up from a nap? By the way, you're really generous to hand over such a good opportunity," Liu Chao said sarcastically as they met on the stairs.

"I'm afraid I'd hand over the opportunity, and some people wouldn't be able to handle it," Zhou Chen replied bluntly.

Knowing that Liu Chao deliberately fabricated a false story to deceive Grandma Yang and get a perfect score, Zhou Chen's impression of him was even worse, so he didn't feel the need to be polite to him.

"What do you mean by that? Look down on me? Think I'm worse than you? Let me tell you, tonight, President Chen is coming here. After he finishes dinner, he's going to meet me. Then the company will use its resources to promote me. You just wait and see me debut smoothly and become a popular star. Hmph!"
