ABCFWGR Chapter 52: Donating Over Ten Billion

"The person has been taken care of for you. It's time for you to fulfill your end of the deal," Gu Chen said, turning to look at Ou Ya with a grin.

Though his smile seemed harmless, it sent shivers down Ou Ya's spine, prompting her to quickly instruct, "Uncle Lin, could you please go and discuss with the auctioneer? Please ask this gentleman to wait."

"Yes, I'll go talk to the auctioneer right away. Please wait a moment, sir," Lin Yuanbiao replied, visibly impressed by the situation, before hurrying off to the backstage.

"You don't have the Five Elements Spiritual Medicine? Empty promises?" It was only then that Gu Chen realized Ou Ya didn't actually have the Five Elements Spiritual Medicine readily available.

Feeling guilty, Ou Ya looked away and fidgeted with her fingers. "It's not exactly empty promises. The items are definitely there, although it might be a bit troublesome. But I promise to fulfill what I agreed to."

"It's best that way. I detest being lied to," Gu Chen's tone turned cold.

Ou Ya, knowing his ruthless methods, felt a pang of anxiety and vigorously nodded, indicating that she dared not deceive him.

Meanwhile, Liu Han Yan and Chen Xing Xian hurried down from upstairs.

Ou Ya recognized Liu Han Yan and exclaimed, "You're not in the capital, why are you here in Lin'an?"

"Do I need to greet you wherever I am?" Liu Han Yan retorted, shooting her a glance.

Ou Ya pouted in response.

The two seemed to have some unresolved issues. One was the notorious young sorceress of the capital, while the other was the daughter of the Liu family, both outstanding figures among the younger generation of the capital.

When Ou Ya saw Liu Han Yan showing genuine concern for Gu Chen, she was stunned, unable to close her mouth. The care on Liu Han Yan's face didn't seem fake, prompting Ou Ya to ponder more.

As far as Ou Ya knew, Liu Han Yan had a fiancé, so her current interactions with Gu Chen were worth questioning.

"Master!"

Suddenly, at this moment, a loud cry startled everyone.

Turning towards the source of the sound, they saw the venerable Qi Dashifu rushing over, one shoe missing, and he fell to his knees in front of Gu Chen, clutching his leg and crying, "Master, we finally meet again!"

"Get lost!" Gu Chen shivered, without hesitation, kicking him away and coldly said, "Qi Dashifu, I haven't settled accounts with you yet. You dare to show up on your own?"

"When did I agree to take you as my disciple? And why did you paint me into a painting and auction it off? What's the meaning of this?" If not for his short lifespan, Gu Chen would have wanted to slap him to death.

Moreover, although this old man was despicable, his crimes didn't warrant death.

"What?" Qi Dashifu was dumbfounded at first, then his face showed a hint of grievance. "Wasn't it you who asked me to do more good deeds back then?"

"The original intention of creating this painting was to contribute to charity. The proceeds from the auction will be donated in your name, and I won't keep a single penny personally!"

Everyone looked on in disbelief.

It seemed that they had become accustomed to being shocked. A mere billion in donations couldn't stir their emotions anymore.

After all, compared to Gu Chen's terrifying strength and Qi Dashifu's identity as his mentor, money was just a cold number.

"I did say those words back then, but I didn't promise to take you as my disciple. Don't confuse the facts," Gu Chen said impatiently.

Who wouldn't be annoyed after being taken advantage of for no reason?

The old Qi was always talking about doing good deeds and charity, making Gu Chen feel like he couldn't do anything to him without seeming heartless. Especially with several pairs of eyes watching nearby, he had nowhere to vent his frustration.

"Master, although you didn't explicitly agree to take me as your disciple at first, do you remember what you said later?" Qi De Dao smiled cunningly.

Gu Chen had a bad feeling and frowned, "What did I say?"

Qi De Dao adjusted his clothes and said, "You said that as long as my donation exceeded ten billion, you would reluctantly accept me as your disciple."

"I am not talented, but with the auction of the 'Spring Rain Picture' just now, the total donation exceeded ten billion, plus an extra ten million."

"I originally thought that one day I would come to visit you, but unexpectedly, we met here in Lin'an."

"Sure enough, fate has already arranged everything!"

Looking at his smirking face, Gu Chen had the urge to punch him.

At the same time, a surprised voice came from beside, "Ten billion? Doesn't that mean you've donated all your earnings over the years?"

"It's embarrassing to say, if it's only from painting earnings, it falls a bit short. Luckily, I have good connections and often persuade people to do good deeds, so I managed to reach over ten billion." Qi De Dao humbly replied.

If he hadn't donated all his money, he wouldn't have looked so shabby, even his Daoist robe was starting to fade.

Thinking of something, he quickly added to Gu Chen, "All donations were made in the name of my master!"

Although he had clearly stated that the donations were made in Gu Chen's name.

But the people around still admired him greatly.

Ten billion?

If used for personal spending, it would never be exhausted in a lifetime.

Yet he donated it all, truly deserving of being a top master of this era.

"Gu Chen, Master Qi is so sincere, why don't you give him a chance?" Liu Han Yan gently persuaded.

"Yes, Mr. Gu, considering Master Qi's contributions to charity, please consider it," Chen Xing Xian sighed with emotion.

Ou Ya opened her mouth, feeling she didn't have the right to speak, so she just blinked to show her stance.

"..."

Gu Chen seemed somewhat moved.

He wasn't heartless. With Master Qi's sincerity in front of him, he couldn't ignore it. If he could fulfill his casual remark, then his lack of talent wouldn't be as significant.

"Master!"

Seeing this, Qi De Dao knelt down again with a thump.

This might be his closest opportunity to become a disciple, he had to seize it.

"Alright, get up!"

Gu Chen sighed, "Considering your sincere heart, I can accept you as a named disciple. Whether you can truly enter the sect depends on your personal luck."

Their sect was sparse in descendants, partly due to Lin Miaoyin's seclusion.

More importantly, they highly valued talent, and those without it couldn't enter the sect.

"Disciple Qi De Dao pays respects to Master!"

Qi De Dao stood up, straightened his waist, and respectfully bowed.

He knew Gu Chen was not an ordinary person, so he didn't dare to ask for more. Being accepted as a named disciple was already satisfying.

Just as everyone was happy about it.

Lin Yuanbiao rushed over in a panic and whispered something in Ou Ya's ear.

After listening, Ou Ya's face changed drastically, and she said in a deep voice, "When did this happen?"

Lin Yuanbiao shook his head, speculating, "It should have happened when the backstage guards were absent."

With Cui Hanshan causing trouble in the front, almost all the guards rushed over.

The backstage guards were virtually nonexistent.

After hesitating for a moment, Ou Ya came to Gu Chen and apologized, "Mr. Gu..."

"No need to explain, I heard it," Gu Chen interrupted, indifferent. "The Five Elements Spiritual Medicine was stolen, and the auctioneer was killed. It's your auction house's affair, nothing to do with me. I only care about when you'll fulfill your promise."
