ABCFWGR Chapter 123: Not Even Qualified to Be My Servant

"My patience is limited, I don't have time to waste with you."

Gu Chen gave his final ultimatum.

"Yes, yes, Mr. Gu, please calm down. I will take the medicine right away."

Old Madam He took a deep breath and slowly reached for the small jade bottle, but her trembling hands, curled up like chicken claws, couldn’t grasp it after several attempts.

Whether she was faking it or not, Gu Chen had no interest in watching. He glanced lightly at Hu Hankang.

Hu Hankang immediately understood, eager to retaliate. He quickly stepped forward, picked up the small jade bottle, poured out a poisonous pill, and handed it to Old Madam He with a sinister smile. "Come on, open your mouth!"

Old Madam He was stunned for a moment. When she saw Hu Hankang’s gloating expression, she was so angry that she trembled all over, her face turning ashen. Her cloudy old eyes stared at Hu Hankang’s neck, wishing she could bite off his carotid artery.

But unfortunately, she couldn’t and wouldn’t dare to do it.

If she really dared to do that, she would probably be killed by Hu Hankang with one palm before she could even reach him.

"I curse your entire family!"

Old Madam He squeezed out through gritted teeth and viciously swallowed the pill.

With a gulp, it went down into her stomach.

After confirming she wasn’t faking, Hu Hankang reported back to Gu Chen, "Mr. Gu, should I give the medicine to the others as well?"

"No hurry!" Gu Chen waved his hand.

Hu Hankang had to step aside, clicking his tongue in regret, clearly not satisfied yet.

The members of the He family were all watching Old Madam He, silently praying.

One minute passed...

Three minutes passed...

Old Madam He opened her tightly shut eyes, her expression gradually relaxing. To her surprise, she found that she was perfectly fine—she could walk, move, and breathe.

Oh, she could even jump!

She immediately bowed to Gu Chen. "Mr. Gu, I have followed all your instructions. Can I become your servant now?"

"No!"

Gu Chen coldly uttered two words.

Instantly, Old Madam He felt like she had fallen into an ice cave. She almost lost her temper but held back in time, speaking with a sobbing tone. "Mr. Gu, is my sincerity still not enough? I even took poison. What more do you want from me?"

"Very well, you barely passed the test. If you had lost your temper just now, I would have wiped out the He family in an instant." Gu Chen's casual tone made it sound like a trivial matter.

But to Old Madam He, it almost gave her a heart attack... It was so close, the He family almost ceased to exist.

"Mr. Gu, you are truly unfathomable. On behalf of the He family, I swear we will never betray you in this life. Otherwise, let us die from the poison and have no remains left!"

Since she had already taken the poison, adding a few flattering words wouldn’t hurt. Old Madam He’s old face smiled as brightly as a chrysanthemum.

"Stop with the useless nonsense, time will prove everything."

Gu Chen said coldly, "But even so, you are not qualified to be my servants. At best, you can only be my dogs. Any objections?"

"..."

Old Madam He froze in place, her face extremely ugly.

Everyone else erupted in discussion.

"What does this mean? A servant is at least a person, what is it to be a dog?"

"We are the He family of Lin’an, a top family in Lin’an. How can we be someone’s dogs?"

"To hell with it, we might as well fight with this Gu. I’d rather die than be a dog!"

Gu Chen didn’t bother to respond to these words at all, treating them as mere dog barking.

"Do you believe that with just one look from Gu Chen, these people would be scared half to death on the spot?"

However, just because Gu Chen didn't take it seriously didn't mean Hu Hankang could ignore it.

This was the perfect opportunity to show his loyalty and demonstrate his abilities as a servant. Hu Hankang wouldn't miss it.

"Hey!"

Hu Hankang shouted and leapt into the air, instantly reaching the person who had said, "We might as well fight." He struck down with one palm.

With a splatter, yellow and white matter sprayed everywhere.

"Pathetic creatures, how dare you challenge Mr. Gu?"

Hu Hankang's cold gaze swept over the crowd. Everyone he looked at lowered their heads in fear, terrified they would be next.

Then, Hu Hankang turned and spat on the ground, snorting disdainfully, "Who else wants to challenge me? If anyone thinks they’re tougher than my palm, step forward and prove it!"

Only someone out of their mind would step forward now.

Everyone shrank back, becoming timid turtles. Those splashed with the yellow and white matter were trembling, with wet patches spreading in their pants.

"Cowards!"

Hu Hankang returned to Gu Chen’s side, sycophantically saying, "Mr. Gu, this old woman is clearly hesitant and lacks sincerity. Shall I teach her a lesson for you?"

Gu Chen gave him a fleeting glance but did not respond.

Old Madam He was so scared she jumped three feet high, trembling as she said, "Mr. Gu, he's taking personal revenge. You can't let him get away with this!"

"Do I need you to tell me how to handle things?"

Gu Chen sneered, "Remember, Hu Hankang is my servant, but everyone in the He family is only fit to be my dogs. Dogs have no right to say no in front of people!"

Hearing this, Hu Hankang grinned triumphantly and shot Old Madam He a proud look.

Old Madam He’s face was filled with bitterness, but she had to accept her fate. "I will obey Mr. Gu's orders. From now on, the He family will be your loyal dogs, following your lead!"

Gu Chen nodded slightly, his expression unreadable. He then took out a dozen small jade bottles and tossed them to Hu Hankang. "Handle the rest."

"When I am not around, you will manage them. But don't abuse your power. Understand?"

Hu Hankang straightened up and said, "Thank you, Mr. Gu, for your trust. I will not let you down!"

He had initially worried that following Gu Chen would mean losing his freedom and having to grovel. But now he was unexpectedly pleased with the additional responsibility.

On the other hand, Old Madam He felt like dying. If she had known, she wouldn’t have offended Hu Hankang so badly. She was now in for some serious trouble.

Seeing Old Madam He looking so miserable, Gu Chen offered rare reassurance. "Leaving him here is not to torment you. If he oversteps, I won't tolerate it. But first, you must recognize your own position!"

This statement both comforted Old Madam He and warned Hu Hankang.

It was a simple form of balance.

After all, Gu Chen hated trouble.

"Thank you, Mr. Gu. I am reassured now." Old Madam He secretly sighed in relief.

Gu Chen gave a faint "hmm" and then walked away without looking back. "No need to see me off. Just do your job and don’t make me find you troublesome."

Hearing this, Hu Hankang and Old Madam He stopped in their tracks but still watched Gu Chen leave until he was out of sight.

Old Madam He then turned to smooth things over. "Master Hu, about earlier..."

"Earlier? We'll discuss that later. For now, distribute these medicines." Hu Hankang interrupted coldly.

Old Madam He sighed, thinking she was in for more suffering. What a disaster!
